Need a little help . . . trying to completely fill out my logbook and I have a few German destinations from the late 80s/early 90s, but I don't know or not sure of the names. Anyone provide any assistance?

EDAB - Bitburg AB ?
EDAH - Hahn AB ?
EDAS - Sembach ?
EDAM -
EDIC -
EDIN -
EDSI -
EDYT -
EDSN -

Yea . . . I know I should have included the names.
Cheers, and appreciate the help.

Go to http://www.baseops.net and look in the Airfield Information column. Click

on World Airfield Info. There will be a bunch of two-letter country identifiers.

About 30 down on the left is GM for Germany. Click on that and a map of

Germany will come up. Scroll all the way down and click on the heading

"Airports in Germany." They should be in there.

EDYT - ?
EDSN - Neuhausen Ob Eck ?

I think these are correct. That's all I could find.

EDAB - Bautzen, Bitburg, Germany
EDAS - Finterwalde (Heinrichsruh), Germany
EDAM - Mersaeburg, Germany
EDIC -
EDIN -
EDSI - Binningen, Germany
EDYT -
EDSN - Neuhausen Ob Eck, Germany

That's all I could find during a brief search. The trouble is those ICAO codes are not permanent. The airports aren't permanent, either. Hopefully some other folks will have the same codes in their logbooks and can share. In fact, they could be the beginning of some interesting stories.

Good luck!

EDIT: Oops. Apparently my search wasn't as brief as it seemed. :)

Getting Closer

Many thanks to those of you who replied with answers. I had tried searching on the web before, but many of the names were not familiar to me. Now, to answer a few questions . . .

Just curious why you need the name of the field? I only log the identifier.
Just anal I reckon . . . when telling stories, its always Grafenwöhr AAF or Graf, not EDIC--that's all. :)

rstev1955 - I recognize the most names from your post. Thanks.

Here's a few more?
KNZY - San Diego NAS?
KNCQ - USA?
LYSA -
Hindsight being 20/20, or in some cases 20/15, we never include enough comments in our logbooks about our experiences, but sometimes, we just don't want to write it all down;)

I'm sure there are some great stories out there. About Grafenwöhr, it was just a few miles from the "Iron Curtain," aka the border of Czechoslovakia I think. It was/is ~3000 x 60, with a tight ramp. Due to trees on the approach end from the north, especially on a PAR in IMC, it was always an interesting approach and landing.

Thanks again for all the help. Take care and fly safe.
Cheers.

BTW I'm up to about 250 different locations -- still need to find my way to Australia, though.

Don't know if this helps, and not sure if it is still the case, but didn't they change the ED prefix to ET? I remember them changing some of the letters as I was getting out, like Ramstein went from EDAR to ETAR..... or was I smoking crack?

KNZY = North Island NAS/Halsey Field (funnest approach I ever did was the LOC A to RWY 18 at NZY. Check it out.)

KNCQ = Dobbins ARB (now KMGE)
LYSA - Sarajevo (flew over it but never landed there)

The last two were a little tougher.
