One of my co-workers was killed last night at work. Since it is still being investigated I can't really say much other than it was a very sad situation. You can read more about it here. http://www.nbc-2.com/articles/readarticle.asp?articleid=11134&z=3&p=

I just ask that you guys keep him in your thoughts and that if you are coming into Naples in the next few days try to keep in mind that in addition to being the busiest we have ever been we are all dealing with a loss, one that some of us saw happen.

Thanks

I am so sad to hear this. We are in Naples 3-4 times per month. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the employees.

Sorry to hear that, APF. We were in there yesterday early evening and things were humping. Did happen at the airport authority main ramp?

Be careful and take care-

Very sad to hear this. I passed through APF just hours before the accident, and it was indeed a zoo on the ramp and inside. Thoughts and prayers with all affected.

Did you notice on the same news site, a taxi cab ran into the wing on a CE750, same airport. From the sounds of it, lucky noone was seriously injured or worse in that one!

It's not worth getting hurt for! When things get that hectic and hurried, SLOW DOWN!

The report also mentioned he was a new employee. How long had he worked there and did he have prior experience around planes?

FBO accidents are rare but they do happen. Had a buddy get very badly burnt when the avgas truck he was topping off blew up.

Be careful out there.

I was there for that one as well, that spawned the new no cars on the ramp at APF rules, the woman who was driving that Taxi was extremely lucky that she wasn't killed if she would have been any taller she would have been decapitated.

happened on the main ramp right near alpha taxi way in the back corner.

Today was a very tough day at work, no one was really in the mood to do anything yet we had another record traffic day. I appreciate all of the sentiment and understanding from everyone in this thread.

I am really sorry to hear what happened to your friend and co-worker.

I have actually seen this happen at another airport. Luckly the incident that I saw the line worker survived. He had drove the tug under the wing of a straight wing citation that didnt have much fuel on board. About 5 or 6 guys lifted the wing off of the worker to free him. He too was sent to the hospital and would have been much worse if it wasnt for the men that lifted the wing.
I consider them all hero's.
