Does anyone who uses mach 1's on the ERJ have a sidetone when talking over the radio?

I can barely hear myself when using the hot mike but when I key the mike I can't hear myself speaking. It is f'ing driving me nuts. This may be a dealbreaker.

Use it on the CRJ and sidetone is low. Also you have to have a good earplug fit.

You will get used to it. It drove me crazy for a bout 2 trips, but I am used to it. Some times now I hear it really loudly and turn my headset down, sometimes I cant hear it at all. You will get used to it though. The perfect settings on the audio panel, at least for me, are everything at the 12 oclock position, seems to work out pretty well. I was just about to return mine as well, but I am glad I didnt. Best headset out there in my opinion. Now I just need to get the earmolds.

Just out of curiosity, why do you care if there's a side tone...why the fascination with hearing yourself?

Same thing happened in one of my previous jobs, I got used to it really quick and now prefer not to have the side tone at all...no reason to.

I fly the CRJ series but have never had any issue with the sidetone with either the regular or my custom earmolds.

I would call Joe at Lightspeed. They have always been great to work with.

BTW: Ear mold fit makes a MAJOR difference in how you hear everything. For example, the little white rubber ear peice is unuseable for me in the left ear because of the mic boom. It sits too much on an angle inside my ear canal and I literally cant hear a thing. The same peice works great in my right ear however.

The regular ear peices ar OK but I would not really continue to use these without the custom molds. Once you get used to them, the really do make it a nice headset for a jet. They're a little pricey, but what the hay, you've already invested 5 bills anyway...
