We just bought a pair of the Mach 1s. They will take a little getting used to, but I suspect that they will end up working well for us. They were highly recommended by a pilot friend of mine. He swears by them.
We are on our 3rd set. They just sent me a new onw with an extended boom. We have had alot of trouble with only recieving every third work when running checklists. At this point I will say their customer service is awsome but the product is just not that good
We recently purchased the LightSpeeds with the custom earmolds. So far they're just OK. I'm hoping to get used to them.
I'm currently on a contract trip in a noisy jet (Astra) equipped with the Telex ANR 850's. Great sound quality and more comfortable than the LightSpeed. Probably the best headset I've ever used.
The Lightspeed sucks - plain and simple. A guy in our fleet uses it and I hate it. The thing is a spaghetti mess to put on (wires everywhere), he can never hear anything in it (so we miss clearances), and it pickes up every noise in the cockpit (auto squelch in this airplane) so I hear everything over my headset (Bose). Dump the Lightspeed. Too much money for a completely crappy product.
I 've had nothing but good results with mine. It is well built. That aside, someone stomped on mine and an earbud broke, but LS was very quick about fixing it. I basically got a brand new headset back. The housing is magnesium, not plastic. The mic works great if you wear it right. I flew with a Bose X for years in turboprops and corporate jets, Nice, but overkill for a Falcon 2000. And for the price of the Bose X, I could buy two LSM1. Apples & oranges really, since the LSM1 is not ANR. For me, I like the LS Mach 1 and recommend it, YMMV.
