I recently had a coil pack fail at 76 engine hours, I suspect another may be going but still looking into an erratic RPM issue as outlined in another thread. I know @Cubonaut875 also had one fail within the first 100 hours and others as well. I was reading the Lightspeed Engineering (LSE) installation/troubleshooting manual and in the back is an interesting read.

I believe mine failed about 30 hours after Condition inspection, possibly the spark plug wire was not fully seated after inspection. Good idea to check spark plug connections. Do we have Denso spark plugs? As a side note totally unrelated, did you know if you read the Alaskan Bushwheels manual our tires should be filled with Nitrogen? Interesting when you actually read the directions.

Yes, we have Denso and that's a good point to bring up. In talking to Klaus he says Denso is good, NGK is bad. We use Denso IK27 which are about $10ea at Amazon. I typically replace them at each condition inspection but this year did not as obviously they are supposed to last a long time. They are just cheap and why not was my thought. Klaus agreed, they are durable and made for the auto industry to last a long time.

Well, the Nitrogen would be good for AK ops I'm sure. That's a lot of Nitrogen that would be needed. There's a lot of discussion about Nitrogen in car tires too. I'm not a fan personally.

I may be getting Desser tires, let me create a new thread on that topic as it's off topic for this coil pack topic.

For sure, I'll post my thoughts on Nitrogen on a new thread. I had my spark plugs replaced at Condition inspection also, quite possibly a loose spark plug wire created a problem - off comes the cowl again!
