Do you really think that a massive paycut like that won't be used as further negotiating leverage at regional and LCC carriers? Do you think this is good news?

One of my friends at another legacy carrier watched $150K of stock he was forced to buy for his retirement account evaporate while he took a similar sized paycut that the DAL guys are facing. Now his pension is on the line. Many of these guys have worked hard for 20 or 30 years and face a very uncertain future. Funny but all of their senior management gets to walk away with millions regardless of the outcome. It might be easy to make potshots from the cheap seats but it says more about your character than anything else.
 
If the 35% trickles down to the feeder level, I'll make $15,600 a year!!
 
It's ironic, and a little sad, that a jab at somebody else's misfortune with regards to pay is coming from somebody who is a self-professed "career FO" that has no care for making more money because his "FO pay plus investments are enuff".............

Easy Benjy, easy. I was being facetious.

Keep the big picture in mind: so instead of being in the top 3% of all wage earners, the DAL mid-termer falls to the top 6%. Tragic. It's still a significant salary by any standard.

Meanwhile, MYFPilot and others at the regionals start out at about $8K above the federal poverty level for a family of four and figure out ways to make it work.

And no, I don't agree that it necessarily constitutes mandatory trickle-down at healthy regionals, unless the industry stays permanently on it's arse which hasn't been the case before has it? There will eventually be a recovery cycle. I'm sure the DAL MEC will be right back at the table once it begins and rightfully so.

Ref the working man hero BS, sell that somewhere else. Nobodiy's future is exempt from being "uncertain," and the airline industry sure as hell doesn't have a monopoly on worker's wondering if they'll have a paycheck next year.

Perspective is everything. Get some.
 
I don't understand how some people are happy and cheerful when their fellow pilots take a paycut. You are very foolish if you think this Delta paycut is good for pilots (regional or major). It will trickle down and many will feel the repercussions. Good luck to all.

That's not what I said N8. I didn't make the comment on the Majors board, I made it on the Regionals board. Notwithstanding the "cut", some would would trade situations to earn a post-cut salary of $146K compared to how hard they struggle on what they make now. The sarcastic comment was made from their perspective.
I apologize if you found that offensive, that wasn't my intent.
 
Regardless of the trickle down effect, it sure did piss off some people when a AA F.O. is in the DFW airport newspaper complaining about the possibility of taking a pay cut. I believe he said he was leaving AA to go fly full-time in the AF as an instructor 'cause he make more money. He had to sell his 250K house with the Lexus parked out front. Now, I'm sure all the rampers, FA's, eagle FO's, concession workers, etc... appreciated the fact that poor AA boy couldn't afford his 250k house and the fact that 110k just wasn't enough to live on. I think I heard, "cry me a fukcing river" more than few times that day.
