Hey everyone, I currently fly for an airline, but its not for me. I am very interested in a career in the medical field. I am actually considering leaving the airline industry to become an EMT, but if i could find a job that incorporated flying as well that would be perfect for me. I know this is wishful thinking but if anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate it. Home is in Wichita and I would also really like to be home for more than 8 days a month...
Thanks for any info.

Hey aland,

I currently fly EMS out of Wichita, PM me with your questions if ya want. I can tell ya that where I'm at you're either 100% pilot or 100% medic; no one does both. ;)

have you applied at koch (sp?) I'm a KS native and have a few friends of friends that fly there. I know they were looking for a pilot or two last summer.

Either go to nursing school or stay on as a pilot...you will make more money doing either one. EMT/Paramedics are hired as med crews at several programs but you just have to know someone or have an incredible history of EMT experience to get in. The pilot side is pretty good. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

I used to work for EagleMed as a pilot. They are a pretty good company and alot of good people there. They have many bases around KS, getting ICT as a base could be tough.

Air Am in ICT

Hi,,, I worked for Midwest LifeTeam for a while. I loved the Lifeteam company but hated the Midwest Corporate Avia part.
As far as incorporating both from everyone I have talked to you are either a pilot or medcrew not both. I have heard of a few companies that tried this and it didn't work. To many chances for pilots to compromise because of the patient.
I have a few friends that have worked for Eaglemed. They are a larger company. They only fly single pilot there,, where Lifeteam and others fly two pilots. There are discussions on the flying air am with only one pilot. Well hope this helps a little and good luck finding something.
