I'm planning to fly up to Toronto (CYTZ) with my wife next week. I was reviewing the requirements on the AOPA Web site and was a little surprised to see that the Canadians require $1 million bucks in liability insurance for planes weighing more than 5,000 pounds, PLUS $300,000 liability insurance per passenger.

I'm flying a B55, but don't have that much liability insurance. Do the Canadians really check that stuff or can I get by on the ordinary million-dollar policy?

Can anyone shed any light on this?
Thanks,

When you clear customs all they want to know is what kind of stuff you have brought into the country. Nobody will be checking your insurance unless you have an accident with your airplane. Make sure you land relatively close to your flight planned time because you don't want to pi$$ off the customs agent that will be waiting for you.
