How important is it for the sponsor to be able to say they've flown with you, rather than just knowing you on a personal level? I've got two Captains writing a letter for me, but neither has been in the cockpit with me. If it's important for them to be able to tell KD that they've flown with me, then we're gonna go fly, but they both thought that just having a letter is more important than what the letter says.

Any input?

I'm not sure about that. What I do know is that your "sponsor" has to go into the CPO and sit down with the CP and give him your info. The letter itself isn't going to do crap for you....You will be moved from a pool of 3000 to a pool of 50-60 - ish.

Good luck...
