Havent worn the blues in a while, anybody remember if the leather jacket is authorized as wear with the short sleeve blue shirt?

Yes, if you are rated you can wear an approved A-2 jacket that has your rank and wing patch on the jacket. I'm in ROTC and our Colonel wears his jacket with the jump wings in his blues. I'll look in the unifrom manual and find the reg to it, but as far as I know you can.

Thanks guys

Hugh, I think as long as theyre the black scotts, its ok. the lightning bolt ones arent authorized

Is your colonel a pilot/nav/ABM or are the jump wings all he wears?

He just wears the Jump wings, not rated. He is a Maintenance guy. He has held 6 commanders posistions. He is one of the most experienced Colonel's I know. Det 855 BYU AFROTC. We have a good program here and some of the most outstanding Officers and Enlisted personel I have ever known. Good training. So, The school up north uh? All of you dirty little hell raisers.... just kiddin. How is your program up there? How many cadets do you have? What year are you? I am a 100, yahoo. Who do you fly with, I see you have a few hours. Drop me a line VFR. see ya

Flying. Because football, baseball and basketball only take one ball...

My friend was the one who came up with those shirts.

Anyway, the Col is the type of person the crusty old F-4 guys lament about every day here. It used to be only flying aircrew got the leather jackets and silver on their chest. Now it seems as though everyone wears them. In this case though, I can't figure out why the Col is.

Curious as to how he is wearing the A-2 jacket, but is not a rated officer?

Not sure if he's authorized, but I just read that certain hospital folks can wear it (surprise to me)

Flight nurses: that explains the hospital connection. I really doubt MX officers can wear them, but stranger things have happened.

Comon I'm a space weenie and we get the bag as well as the A-2. No need to be a rated guy...as far as us wearing the nomex..who knows the command and control terminal could blow up and start a fire:D

No offense, but if you're in ROTC, you probably don't know too many other Colonels to base your opinion off of.
