Was about to take off today out of ORL, just before a learjet departing (about 2pm, 03/25). They burst a tire on rotation. I heard the captain radioing to tower telling them that they'd have to jettison fuel and divert to another airport. They were en-route to Dekalb-Peachtree, GA. I've totally forgotten the tail number, but would like to know if anyone in the FL/GA heard of a Lear landing with a burst tire today. Hope they landed with no problems.

Did they continue to PDK or return to ORL? I'd like to think they didn't raise the gear, nor did they fly several hundred miles with the gear down.

Did it happen to be a Lear 55, i.e. winglets? If so, it was actually cleared to Marathon. The aircraft that was cleared to PDK would have been a King Air 350. Did you see one of those around? Anyway, the Lear 55 was N29NW and end up landing at Palm Beach.

No, It didn't have any tiptanks - but did indeed have winglets. I'm not quiet sure what model of the Lear it was. They did take off and the gears did retract as well. The crew just radioed the tower and told them that they had burst a tire on rotaion and requested that nobody use runway 25 until the debris be swept away. They then taxied us over to 13-31. I'm pretty sure they were en-route to Peachtree. There was a King Air 350 at the ramp at Showalter - maybe they were the ones off the Peachtree...... That I can't confirm.

Did the lear in question land at PBI safely? No antics at the other end?

Well actually the original post wasn't correct - what the Captain actually said was "...we're going to have to burn some fuel..."

the 35 can.

The 35 can dump the tips expeditiously by moving two tiny switches on the fuel panel. If they were in a 31A then dumping fuel was not an option.
