check this out. These guys in Oklahoma are modifying a Lear 24 for space tourism. Looks like the airplane will take off from the Oklahoma Space Flight Center (?), climb to the mid-30s, light off the liquid-fuel rocket engine, and do a short flight in "space". Supposedly taking part in the 2007 Ansari X-Cup.

I'm not gettin' anywhere near a Lear 23 that's going to "take me into space"!!! :D

Pretty neat concept though I guess!

I think the oklahoma space flight center is the old Clinton Sherman AFB..Huge runway...out in the middle of nowhere

Hopefully the Squawk list will be of a different type than a typical Lear 20 Series doing charter work. I can see it now:

Flux Capacitor--Intermitent Flux Surging--Could not Duplicate
Cathode Ray Tube--Pacman Power Pellot Inop--Added Coco Puffs

Sure hope they don't open up a base in South Florida. Space Captain Salaries down here are $42,000/year.
