Considering a lateral move from being an fo on the 1900 to Skywest. Currently employed with no problems but will need to quit if I can't get a LOA and thus am looking at other airlines particularly Skywest. Anyone know how they view such moves and more importantly anyone know when they will begin accepting applications again?
Thanks.

I think they would see it as a complement that you are considering leaving Mesa for SKYW. I know of a pilot in my new-hire class last year who was a CRJ FO for Mesa.

As far as when they will be accepting applications...find a buddy to write a letter of recommendation for you. That seems to be the only way to get to an interview right now. You also might want to try to send a resume directly to the folks in St. George.

Good luck!

I don't think the "lateral move" would keep you from getting hired at SkyWest. I made the same kind of move almost five years ago, and they didn't seem to have any issues with me then.

NOW they might, but hey...whatyagonnado? :p

Mesa to Skywest isn't a lateral move, it's a move up! I'm sure that's the way everyone will look at it.

So ya think just sending the standard cover letter w/ resume to the HR dept may work? Either way I'll give it a shot...

Thanks for all the help; it is appreciated.

Hi!

SkyWest is definitely a move up. If U like out West, Horizon is, in my opinon, currently the best regional out there.

U might also consider Comair and AWAC. THey are both excellent regionals.

Right on about QX!

If you've got 1000 hours at Mesa or any other 121 you won't have to do the sim in the interview. We like to see people with turbine time and past airline experience. We'd be happy to have you!

anywhere is an upgrade from mesa! I have no desire to even look at their stock price, OH - Do they even have a stock price?

P.S. You will probably have to know someone at Skywest to walk in your $%*(.

Wow, this is news to me. So 1000 of airline experience bypasses the sim, huh. Thats sure nice to know!
