Last Day of Tour Commuting

NJA's CBA allows pilots when airlining on last day of a tour to choose a destintation other than company prescribed HBA or domicile. Have any newhires tried to use this provision to commute? I was wondering if this was a practical solution.

I believe that's "old" contract stuff and is no longer an option here anymore.

The blue book on this is pretty clear, however I'm unsure of the practicality of doing this on a regular basis. If the company has me on the last day taking a 1600L airline flight SFO-CMH, arriving at 2130L, I can opt to go SFO-STL(my home) and pay any difference in $ if there is any. But I have to make all arrangements myself, and wait till the company offered flight has departed...this could get tricky...
Any one trying this out there?
