I don't know what's more impressive, with the fact he nearly made it of the ground, or kept'd full power on with landing gear collapsed hopeing to take off lol ...

I personally know a guy who did the exact same thing in a T-38, and it didn't work out for him either. It earned him the callsign "Cowboy." Go figure. That incident didn't damage his career too severely, but he is no long with the Air Force due to flight discipline issues...

BTW, I can't get that video to load. What kind of aircraft is it?

looks like a Mig-29 ... or a SU-27/37 ?

I think i'll go with the mig :)

Anyhow - you need the quicktime plugin to view it.

Ah, got it working. Looks like a MiG-29 to me.

What exactly do you say when you realize you have to abort the "takeoff" in that situation?

"uhh...tower...yeah...you know"

it appears the videos have been taken down.. probably server overload thanks to Flight Info's visitors :)

What I really like is when he trys to put the gear back down. Look at the video just past the half way mark.

What impressed me was the pilot's ability to keep the plane pointed down the runway. Although the plane does appear to get off centerline at the end. I wonder what Gulag the pilot got sent to for re-education training.

haha! What a dumbass, and yeah, you can see the guy trying to get the gear back down after what looks like his engines flaming out.
