my brother works for a parts distributer. he heard through one of thier sales reps in DFW that Kittyhawk is looking to replace the 72's with the 767....any truth to this?

If thats true then it,s time to sell the stock.

heard kittyhawk taking delivery of 737,s starting next month.

I also heard that Kittyhawk will be bidding on some DHL flying soon. That's especially important now since their days or nights at DAY are numbered.

I heard that Kittyhawk has placed a order for 45 Boeing 7E7's, and 12 A-380's.

Comon guys... it's Kittyhawk. KITTYHAWK.

......MEOOOOW!!!

I've heard the 737 rumor from a few guys I know from Ft Wayne who are working out there. None of them in flight ops, so it is all ramp rumors. But they are supose to be training the crews to W+B, load and unload a 737.

Yes, the Kitty is getting 737-300's, the first one is in S. Afrika to get modified, will come on line in first quarter 2005 followed by a couple more during the year. This info is from press releases.
Before they made the decision to go 737 they were evaluating of the 737, A310 and a combination of 757/767. The 757 was too expensive, 767 too big, so was the bus. They could use something big though to replace the contracted A300's.
Maybe it is too expensive right now to get only 2 or 3 of a big type, cheaper to contract. And the 737 certification is not complete yet.
And no, they are not hiring. Still quite a few guys are furloughed and want to come back. Replacing 727's with 737's will not create many openings either, maybe even more furloughs once they are done with training.

Is KH still based out of DFW or Ft. Wayne? How many 727s does it operate and how many current pilots? I once saw one of their 727s at Phoenix Gateway Airport - does Kitty Hawk still serve Gateway (carrying parts for Intel I believe)?

Their hub is in FWA. I used to work on the ramp there and de-ice airplanes when I was a starving CFI, but that was years ago. Back then their offices were in DFW for KHA and YIP for KHA International (or American International Airways) which was back when they still had DC-8's, 747's, L-1011's, and DC-9's.

Plus a whole gaggle of learjets, caravans, ect.

Carried a KittyHawk Pilot on the jumpseat the other day, and he confirmed the rumor of the 737's and said that he talked with the Cheif Pilot who said that the 757 would soon follow? I don't know, the way rumors fly around.....hehehehe Anyway, there is some food for thought!
