Laying off it what I hear, buddy of mine just got put back on the 727, from the left seat of the 737-300.

Not so sure about the layoffs....
Kitty Hawk started to get their 737-300's in mid 2005. The airplane went junior. The senior guys elected to stay with the 727. By mid 2006 it was evident that the 737's lines were better and the majority of the senior guys on the 727 decided to exercise an option in the contract and move to the 737. Therefore about 30% of the entire pilot force needs to move aircraft, that is happening over the next few months.
Four flight engineers were called back in time for christmas with the understanding that they may be let good in the new year. So far the company has given no indication that they are going to be layed off. A number of long term FE's also upgraded to FO's after six years on the panel and a handful of previously displaced captains moved back into the left seat.

Kitty Hawk also purcahsed a trucking company on the west coast last summer, it is designed to work with the airline.
The christmas c-net for the post office went well and is expected to result in a strong fourth quarter result.

Basic schedule is two weeks on, two weeks off.
Kitty hawk is as likely to lay off as the rest of the industry, tough times for everyone.

I had received an IM about Kitty Hawk but decided to answer in the general forum.

Still no talk of layoffs.
Three more pilot slots have opened up and the bid for these seats will close next week.

First quarter is always slow but this one seems to be especially slow.
