I think these must be some of the funnest planes to fly, and i was just wondering what ratings and certificates and how many hours do king air pilots usually have? thanks for any info!

I guess it would really depend on "who" you are speaking to. I dunno if I would say that they are the "funnest" but by far the "easiest" fleet of aircraft that I have flown thus far.

The short field capabilities, speeds, range, etc, are all things that make the King Airs' a very popular business and charter aircraft.

Keep in mind that the entire King Air fleet are all single pilot approved per the aircraft type certificate although many insurance companies require "two" 135 qualified pilots under part 135 and even some 91 will require the same regardless of the being "single pilot approved" - Most captains that fly with us have either the ATP or commercial certificate with all applicable ratings as well as the CFI/CFII/MEI. I would say it is about a 70/30 split-

not a bad aircraft but the ERJ145 is lookin purdy nice right about now:cool:

why would you need the manual for the BE90? Im sure the checklists are online somewhere but unless your getting hooked up to fly one why do you need the manual? Flightsaftey and Simcom/Simuflite do BE90 training. I don't think they just hand out the manuals to anyone.

I have my old BE300/350 manuals. Dont use them. But I guess you want the Be90.

checklist?

I remember one time I had the plane full of pax on the kingair and i knew i had removed the chocks yet the plane wouldn't move. So i called in the unicom to have a line guy come out and see if the chock was still in place. He motioned that i was all clear. For the life of me i couldn't get the plane to move and then i realized i had the parking break set. Felt like an idiot.

Hey there Captain,
Most people want a manual so they know whats going on, and for the checklist, they dont want to do what you did in the most embarassing time as a pilot post. :)

Some of us like the manuals because we're just flying dorks that have to read as much aviation related stuff as possible! :p

I've flown a be 65, a, b, c, e, f-90 plus a walter b-90 (if you don't know what that is there are only 3) 200, b200, 300 yada yada yada

I've got all the manuals and checklists. PM me for more info

New King Airs are no fun. You need to find yourself a really old high time 100 or A100, the flagship of the Beech fleet. I heard Beech was forced to stop making them after only a few years, just to be fair to other manufacturers.

An A100??? Pratts are for wimps. B100 Garrett-powered queerness all the way. Real men send line guys scurrying with hands clamped over ears.

Nothing irritate's me more than to hear a Garret come flying thru the ramp somewhere. The worst is when you have a aircraft owner/pilot doing the checklist on the ramp for twenty minutes before they finally leave.

Lrjtcaptain?

Hey there Lrjtcaptain,

You must not be much experienced. Try taxiing something so big, you need a camera on the nosegear and tail? And you are are asking why you use checklists and manuals, how did you pass your PPL? I will laugh when I have to go around becuase you just landed gear up? Whooooooops, forgot the Danm checklist.........Oh, and I am sure you have evac procedures memorized?, Ofcourse, get your head out of your ass and wake up, this is not a dream. well...maybe you are dreaming of becoming an airline pilot. You could not handle 121...nor 135!

I've had the pleasure of flying the Garretts on Metro's. I remember putting ear plugs under my headphones and then turning the radios all the way up. Besides, who wants more than 220 knots out of a King Air. The 100/A100 is a superior machine for people like myself who need to build flight time. An extra 70 knots would just mean 3 more months until my ATP.

Have you seen his total time? That explains it all.

You must never seen a qs tail on the ramp. We've got more checklists to do after start than you can imagine. It's not just owner operators it's the paid guys too.

yuck
the A100's are horrible.
680shp with a 200 fuselage? No thanks. SE performance is poor.
slow speed performance is poor with 45 ft wingspan (yes, thats 5 ft shorter than a c-90)
Its no fun to hand fly because of that stupid electric trim. Why didnt they just put the same trim as all the other king airs in there?
oh yeah, good luck gettign that thing above 11,000 on a hot day. 1/2 my time is in these junkers and it has been very interesting....and scary.

Now that I just read this thread...
Saw a Queenair take off a couple minutes ago, here at FLL. By the way, today's about 92 F. Imagine tryin to get that thing to fly! A100 don't look so bad no more, eh?

I like the badas$ noise those geared Lycs make, though...
