How does John Kerry's Chartered 757 get to go into and out of DCA when the rest of us can't. OH WAIT, I quess when your part of our government the rules don't apply!!! What was I thinking!!!

It is likely a Part 121 Air Carrier that JFK is chartering from. If they can get a slot, they can go into DCA.

You should be glad that you don't have to fly into DCA anymore. I wish I didn't have to.

agreed. I hated DCA. Nothing like doin that LDA approach over the river that brought you to the runway approach end like a F-15 pilot.

A liberal conspiracy!!

Oh Really!

Two things strike me as hilarious on this 757.

1 - Note the sign on the side (link).

JOHN KERRY .... PRESIDENT! Not "for President", just "President". Oh really!

2 - In introducing his plane at DCA yesterday, he said "looking at this airplane reminds me of my days in Viet Nam watching them bring all those soldiers, myself included, to fight in war." Anyone else hear he was in Viet Nam? Sheez!!!

2000Flyer

BTW - the plane is registered to Trans Meridian Airlines.

It still boils my blood that they have access to DCA. My company would love to get back in there. Way more convient for our folks. What a bunch of hipocrits!!!!!!!!!

There was an article in the last Pro Pilot mag (I know!) about the fact you could get exemptions for DCA. Might look at it.

Only if you are a charter company. We are not. Part 91 all the way. Would love to be able to apply for some kind of security check or something. I just love the double standard government officials have. You can't come in here unless we need you then you can come in. What a bunch of crap!!!!

Even 135 ops can't get into DCA unless you are carrying pax working for the govt. We got in a few months ago because we were carrying an ex-president onboard. The security process and background checks were ridiculous. I don't think the TSA is giving exemptions to just anybody.

I always (okay, not always) enjoyed flying into DCA. The signature facility was better than most plus you could drink the free lemonade and watch the who's who of America walk in and out of the building. A great shoe-shine and sandwich were but steps away and if you had the day to kill hoofing it to monuments or the mall was not hard either. I hope they open it back up soon, time will tell.

Also, just to reiterate the point of this thread, Kerry's airplane is a Part 121 Supplemental Charter operated by Trans Meridian. They have just as much right to be there as American Airlines. Favoritism has nothing to do with it.
