to make an offer for ACAI. They have a better balance sheet, and the BOD might find them more palitable.

A much better company but the seniority integration could be a mess with a non union carrier as the aquirer.

Hello,
Not to burst any bubbles, SKYW mgmt. has said "we dont buy companies we buy assets", employee groups would not have any say. Refer to SKYW purchase of Westair awhile ago, they all had to interview fo newhire positions, I wouldnt wish that on anyone! I hope you guys maintain your independence from any merger/sale situation.
Good luck

Having flown with several ex-Westair captains now flying for SkyWest I have to call you on this one. As I understand it, Westair management tried to play hardball with UAL in contract negotiations while suffering horrible customer service reviews and on-time performance (a J.O. company at the time), and UAL pulled their contract. The company quickly withered and ceased to exist.

All those I've spoken to said what happened after was quite amicable and professional. SkyWest took over a lot of the flying and picked up most Westair pilots in quick fashion who all now fly as captains of EMBs and CRJs today (not to mention those in senior postions in the Training and Flight Ops depts).

To summarize: SkyWest did not buy Westair, and those I've spoken to are much happier to be flying here. Apparently morale at Westair was horrid towards the end.

Oh well,
I was mistaken, it was Sunair or another company before my time, that had senority issues relates to merging senority lists, time causes blurring I stand corrected. I still stand by the statment "about purchasing assets" that was told to me by the CEO while in the jumpseat of the A/C I was flying. I still hope the ACA guys stay independent and do not have to endure a hostile pirate like JO.
PBR
