Have you been to YIP lately? ;-)

On the home basing issue, yes, technically we do not have home basing at the moment. It is a big deal to the pilots and I wouldn't expect a contract to pass that doesn't include home basing.

That being said - it is rare when the company doesn't buy you a ticket from your closest airport to your first assignment. It does happen on occasion when scheduling saying "we don't have anything for you, come to YIP". I'd say it happens to those living elsewhere once a year.

Almost all the lines (99%) have the 17 days of flying in one chunk, so there is only one trip from home to wherever you have to go once a month.

Hmm, is that the guys that crashed a C-46 on beach at Tsiu River back in October 1986?

I was there with a DC-3 hauling fish and witnessed the C-46 crash on take-off, ran over to pull the guys out before the beast caught fire, but the boys were already running up a hillside: I would to, the hot engines were cooling off in a Lake of Avgas right under the plane...:D

I don't think so. There was another operator that I heard off hauling fish on the beaches. Everts bought one of the 46's from them that they had left in Kenai, AK in 98?
