Hi, new here. I tried a search for the info I am looking for but did not find what I was looking for, so here goes.
1. Schedule-16 on 13 off? Do you bid on routes? How are you assigned trips?
2. What is pay?
3. What are the benefits?
4. Do you get pressured into flying more than what you are scheduled for?
5. Do you get phone calls to come to work when you are off?
6. Do you easily fly 1000hrs a year?
7. Are people mostly happy or disgruntled there?
This should be enough for now. Thanks in advance.

Where did you fly the C-46?

Cool...C-46, A man's airplane. That's one machine the HR lady won't be foolin around in the pilot selection. Even ole brightspark redAvbug would have trouble with that flyin machine...

flyC-46, you have to read Pete Fusco's book "Moondog academy and other aviation disasters” It has some great C-46 stories in it. I few the C-46 in the late 70’s, and was always leery of who was clearly in charge.

Good call on Fusco's book. Sadly I'll never get a chance to fly the "mythical" C-46. If nothing else the book did intensify my desire to become a freightdog. To quote one of the asst. Chief Pilots at the airline owned flightschool I attended.

"Kid you must be in the wrong place. We don't train freight trash, and we don't train cropdusters, we're an airline flightschool!!"

1. Schedule-16 on 13 off?

17 on, 13-14 off (depending on a 30 or 31 day month)

Do you bid on routes?

Yes and supposedly they always change

How are you assigned trips?

Lines based on senority

2. What is pay?

American Dollars. www.airlinepilotpay.com

3. What are the benefits?

The usual medical/dental etc. medical is supposed to be really really good but I don't pay much attention to that stuff.

4. Do you get pressured into flying more than what you are scheduled for?

Supposedly not pressured but often asked since we're really short of pilots.

5. Do you get phone calls to come to work when you are off?

Gonna let someone who's actually online answer this one.

6. Do you easily fly 1000hrs a year?

Thats what they tell me. Guys are timing out in thier 10th-11th month. But again I should let someone whos been here for a year or more answer this for you.

7. Are people mostly happy or disgruntled there?

From people I've talked to, a pleasant mix of both.

Any other Kallita pilots?
Xfr8dog got it pretty much right. I'll address this one:

I've been called once or twice in the year I've been here. A simple "No, I'm not interested" sufficed. I think if you want to work extra, just call scheduling up and tell them you want to work on your days off. They'll keep it in mind.

Domicile Question

I know Kalitta management makes a big deal in making it clear they do not utilize home basing. So are you line guys always having to travel to YIP on your own time?
