I was just wondering if the voting for the new TA has concluded, or if it hasn't, when does that stop? Any news yet? Someone told me earlier that this TA probably won't pass. What are the feelings out there? Thanks for any news.

The votes will be counted two hours from now at 9:00 am CST, on the 31st.

It's hard to say if it will pass or not, but we don't have to wait too much longer to get the answer!

Clash when do you start ground school?

Thanks!

CWI,

Thanks for the info. It'll be interesting to see what happens. I've downloaded the proposed TA and looked through it, but it is hard to compare to what is presently in force. I think I found the old one as well; if I have the right one, the new TA looks a heck of a lot better. But, like I said, I'm new to the company so I don't have anything to reference the new TA to.

I start school on Mon, June 6th. I'm really looking forward to it. Unemployment for the 3rd time still stinks. Never gets any easier. Hopefully we'll meet on line some time!

The new TA was turned down - overwhelmingly as Dan C. said. Sorry I don't have the numbers - maybe someone with them can post.

Hey Clash. Where did you find the contract and TA online? I start class with you on the 6th. Looking forward to it.

Here you go...

This was the old TA:

http://www.ibt747.org/airlines/kai/kai-index.html

It was under the heading something like "2005 Tentative Agreement". I found it doing a Google search. You can find the contract on there somewhere as well, but I think it might be incorrect in spots, i.e. it lists MBPG as 57 hrs(I think), where the sheet given to me at the interview lists it as 60.7. So take it for what its worth.

As for the vote down, is this a good thing? Like I said earlier, I don't know what to compare it to. What were the bad things in this TA? What do you believe needs to be changed? I'm trying to get up to speed so I know what the issues are when I start next week. Thanks for all the help, fellow Kalitta guys!

clash,

there will be a union rep coming into ground school who'll bring you up to speed and will answer all your questions. Yes, its a good thing the TA was turned down. best of luck in class.

I'm starting in June, too. I'm curious as to why the agreement was rejected by such a large majority. I don't need a long explanation, just a sentence or two. See you all in class Monday.

It's hard to distill a contract into a sentence or two - but if I had to, I'd say it was ambigous contract language (ie, it seems people felt there were too many gaps the company could exploit) and a weak pay raise, considering the profitability of the company.

Again - this seems to be the crux of the reasons behind why it was rejected. I'm sure each KA guy has their own reasons.

bump.

Ok I took a look on the new contract on the link above. It looks they corrected or rewrote some articles like MBPG to 62 hours now. As for the pay raise, it is for the old guys there to say. About profitability of the company, as Kalitta not being a public company we from outside cannot know how good it performed. But even if you try you never gonna be able to fill all the gaps in a contract, because Lawyers always gonna find a new one in favor of company and management that's why they make 500/hour or more.
