I have an interview on Teusday 11th of May in Eagan MN. Can anyone shed some light on the interview questions and the sim ride. How you like working at Kalitta and the general schedule, life style and pay conditions.
The simride should be in the B747-200. Typical simride, takeoff out of LAX, climb out to 4000 feet at 180 kts, flaps 10. Level off at 4000 and accelerate to 200 kts. Then a decending turn to 3000 feet at 200 kts and 500 fpm. Vectored to a hold at Seal Beach, after entering the hold and doing one turn in the pattern I was vectored to an ILS to runway 24 right. Anything below 300 feet doesn't matter.
Know your approach charts and how to brief an arrival. Know when you can descend below the DH and if you receive a weather report below your landing minimums where on the approach can you continue the approach. Take a look at the introduction section of the Jeppesen Charts if you have it.
The schedule is 17 days on and 13 off. First year pay for FO's is $40 per hour and second year is $60, with a 60 hour guaranty. No insurance for the first 90 days. Union is Teamsters.
And for more information do a search on Kalitta in this forum!
Its a easy interview. You will first fill out an app which will be given to you by Betty. Arriving a bet earlier will help specially if you have a lot of past employers. She will also collect a copy of your lisence, medical, and PassP so have them with you. The interview panel will want to see them too.
Next a check airman will come and get you (Ontime) and take you in to another room where you are joined by DO and an HR lady. The three of you will discuss your resume and why you want to fly here and what you know about them. They will talk about where the company is now and they did mention that they are short on crews now and the boss is out looking for more aircraft. Have 11 now and the plan is to go to possible 15.They will tell you as to what to expect schedule wise and try to paint a realistic picture of the life style you will have to see how you are with it. They give you the opportunity to ask questions. The check will ask if you have had any unusual events in your flying career. HR lady wanted to know if you have been unemployed what you had been doing. Things in that nature and they will discuss pay, benefits and training etc. Its easy and laid back.
Sim in Natco. Cool guy giving the check who is a furloughed NW guy I think and was a former Kalitta and is back now. Takeoff in MSP climb to 3000 and level accelerating to 200 and done in flaps 10 config. Some turns folowed by a vector to VOR for hold. After that vectors for ILS in MSP. Made me climb to 4000 and a descending turn to 3000 for ILS in MSP 30. Notting matters below 300. Make sure you do a TO breif, call for after takeoff, hold establish, before landing checks and breif the app plate. You can give the controls to your partner as he will be in there with you. No Fe just the checkman sitting behind. CRM and thats about it. Its fair and simple not to sweat it. Good luck!!
