Hi u all just starting pilot school don’t know nothing about it. I’d appreciate it if anyone can give me any advice on what I need to do after I get my license and a job, such as where the jobs are at, who’s good to work for, that sort of thing. I’d be happy if Northwest or American would hire me, or even Donald Trump!! :)

yay you gonna get abeating for this LOL... if you stay with flightinfo by the time you will be done with the training you'll be an expert

stick around this message board. i think you'll get a lot of info some good maybe some bad, then come to your own conclusions. it seems like it's good to have a back up plan if you get into avaition because of all the ups and downs of the business. i'm still new myself......enjoy the ride

congrats on going to flight school and good luck! stay focused and studya A LOT. many members on this board are true professionals and offer good advice. but, there are also many on here who have piss poor attitudes and wouldn't be happy no matter what they are doing. so, take everything with a grain of salt. visit www.jetcareers.com also. this is an excellent site for pilots in training. there are forums on all the big flight schools, with questions and comments about them from current and former students. definatley not as hostile as this wesite. although this site is an EXCELLENT source of information as well. best of luck!!!!!

Do a search on "squale" threads.;)

Did you join the Riddle CAPT program yet? I hear they make airline captains there! *cough*

Welcome!

Just go to school

The only thing you should be thinking about now is how you can do your best in training and getting the most out of your time in school. That includes such things as studying, preparing for flights, doing what your instructor tells you to do, and not being a screwoff.

Get through school and worry about the other stuff later. And don't hold your breath about American, NW or Donald Trump. That's my $0.02 advice.

I would not even contemplate who will hire you or where is the best place to work right now.. Concentrate on the task at hand (training) since there is no need to worry about variables that are beyond your control. This industry will have probably changed a lot by the time you are marketable for a major position so enjoy the ride and don't look too far ahead. It is good to shoot for the stars but one must crawl before they can walk.

Good luck with your flight training

No. 1 thing is don't drop out. Not to sound negative, but the drop out rate was almost 90% for my class when I was in flight school.

Focus on graduating, then worry about where you want to work. :)

I agree...take it one rating at a time, and just do it. I'm just ready for the first job, and alot has changed since I started (9-11 for one thing...)

And get an instructor who really seems to take an interest in YOUR progress. I've had a couple who really just cared about logging MY flight time in their own logbook before the postflight debrief! A REALLY good instructor will make ALL the difference in the world.

I agree with J.B. Find an instructor who likes to instruct. Thats what I did (one with over 28000 hours instruction given) and thats the main reason Im doing what Im doing today

Hey split, congrats on starting school. I agree that you should take it one rating at a time, and study hard. Whenever you get your commercial/multi liscence, don't get cought up in the internship route to a job. Get your CFI's or find a banner towing, parachute jumping, ect. job, where a future employer will be able to see that you have worked very hard to earn your hours.

-my 2 cents ;)

Humm 28,000 hours of given? or do you mean 2800 of given. Cause 28,000 hours comes to be 1,167 days in the air. Dude thats one OLD insturctior. Did you have to bring along an EMT to make sure he didn't die on you? :)
