Just signed off my first student for a check ride

Congrats....just ask yourself one question before you endorse someone's logbook...would I send my family up with this person? If you can comfortably answer yes...you're good to go.

I've stuck to that credo and have a 85% pass rate.

That is some good advice man! ...and congrats on your student passing!
 
Congratulations.
I'm sure he passed because of your dilligent efforst to make him not only a safe pilot, but a competent one as well. Just remember to tell him that a license is really just a license to learn.

I wonder if that thought ever runs through the examiners mind.
 
Congrats!! I'm actually signing two students off today who just happened to be ready for their private checkrides at the same time... biting my nails for both of them this week.

(My first two sign-offs ever)
