Unless you are required to be available, they can leave voice mails all day. I usually call back on the day I'm supposed to go back to work, if ever! I can't believe they could get even 1 pilot to fall for that.

Education is a wonderful thing. Use it.

Its back? When did it ever start? Any scheduler that tries is wasting their time and any pilot that falls for it deserves what he gets.

They used to do this years ago and when a pilot called back to dispute being junior manned BAM, verbal exchange was established and the pilot was hosed.
They will get some this way but I'm enjoying my day at home.

AT&T has a horrible history of hiding voicemails...also visual voicemail on the iPhone can be sketchy at times.

Right?

They tried it one me like 8 times last week. Actually put in on my schedule. No I did not pick up or fly the trip.

Call them back.

When they try and assign you, just say ok... hold on one minute while I put down my beer and write this down.

Or if it's for a day out, ask for a ticket from Tahiti where you are vacationing.

Congratulations! You just screwed over scheduling.

Answer and pretend to be someone else...ask to take a message.. Screw with them a little. They have to get verbal confirmation that it is who they are trying to reach before it's considered official notification. Kind of like being served.

Quite some time back...they called to JRM me.
I was in at home. I informed them to buy me a ticket on NWA, which they said no to. I then told them it was 8hrs to dh me there, and I would miss the flight as it left in 1 hr. They asked me to drive. I said OK. It's 15+hrs, and I will then be fatigued for the next pairing as well. They hung up.

Another time, they called several times to inform me of a reserve assignment, while I was on FMLA leave. I said OK, but informed them I would be there in 30 days. I also informed them, the next time they call, I would have my attorney call them back with a harassment suit. They hung up then as well.

It's funny then is, I have volunteered a couple times in August, to pick up lost time, and I was informed there was nothing available.

Answer, then turn away and say, "Honey, I think it's for your husband."
