I am currently a dispatcher for a 121 carrier, but am thinking of going to a 135 company. I was wondering if any licensed dispatchers who work for a 135 carrier can jumpseat with 121 carriers? I know you don't have to have an FAA license to work for 135, but I figured those that do can still use their jumpseat privelages on 121 carriers. If anyone has any comments on this please can you help me. Thanks

jumpseat...what's that?

Good luck getting jumpseat privaleges sp? with any 135 company. The problem is the schedule is so normally out of whack that they can't reciprocate, therefore no agreements. The freight companies that have pretty much set schedules are better, however dispatchers jumpseating is another thing. Coming from very limited experience, I know of dispatchers who could jump on company aircraft, but never on an agreement airline. Hope it helps.

Dispatch jumpseat

Airtran has some interline agreements that specifically allow for dispatchers to ride cabin jumpseat

I am asking as a 135 dispatcher can you still use your license and an airline ID to ride on 121 airlines? Not to ride on 135. If you can help please do so.

Maybe I was not clear enough (???) Lets try again...Airtran, a 121 carrier, has interline reciprocal jumpseat agreements with some 135 carriers that specifically allow jumpseat priviledges for 135 dispatchers.

Sorry I misunderdtood you. I currently work for a 121 carrier and couldn't jumpseat on Air tran. But maybe it was just the gate agent was an idiot, but they said my pass buruea needed to call their pass buruea.. But I will try and call their pass buruea to see what the rules are. Thanks for your help once again.

Good Luck

Unless there is a seat in the back, jumpseating is out for anyone other than someone on duty. This is per a new security directive.

It is very possible to jumpseat up front! I have done it many times recently when I am not on duty. You don't know much about any security directive.

If I misunderstood, I apoligize. Are you saying you are riding in the cockpit jumpseat on an airline you do not work for??? Just curious...which airlines are giving you the cockpit jumpseat?

The ones that we have agreements with! :)
