Does anybody know what the best way to jumpseat on UPS is? I've jumpseated on FedEx and it's been great and I'd assume it's the same on UPS.

Just curious how to check what the flight schedule is, do you have to list, etc.?

Call 1-800-228-CREW. They will list you and give you times.

Speaing of which, how do you j/s on FedEx? Is there anywhere you can get their schedule?

Capt., Call this number at least 24 hours prior to your first JS 866-357-5711 and use this website to check flight and then call and list. http://crewroom.alpa.org/fdx/jumpseat/
Never used them myself, but sounds like they treat you real nice.

of course I am a metallica man, so i may be all f'd up!

When you call FDX for the first time they take a bunch of info, ie; Emergency contact info (in case of a Castaway incident I guess), employeer info, company ID number, phone numbers, etc.

There's also some general rules, FDX pilots can list for a jumpseat I think it's two weeks in advance, us offline guys can list within 24 hours. If you're going to cancel, be sure to do that at least 2 hours before the flight, I think you also need to list at least 2 hours in advance. There's a link to the offline jumpseat rules on the website above.

Oh, bringing cookies is still a tradition, last week I connected through IND and brought 5 things of cookies (first flight was an A310, two pilots and the second plane was a DC-10, therefore 3 pilots). Anyway, all the pilots were very appreciatave of the cookies and offered water, soda, juice from their cooler. I think I got three of the cookies back because they didn't eat them....seems like a pretty cheap gift for an almost guaranteed jumpseat.

Agreed, I was going to JS on FedEx during Christmas. Checked the schedule and sure enough there was a flight going where I needed to go. Bought big candy bars and wrapped them up to show my appreciation. Like the website says, check back just to verify that there are no sched changes. Sure enough, I call in the morning and the flight is no longer operating. So I had to use a legacy and fight it out with all the other guys trying to JS. And on top of that, I had to give the candy bars to the grumpy legacy pilots.
