as of now its not at all possible.... AMF pilots cant even jumpseat on their own company planes unless it is for official business...yeah it sucks doesnt it? You would think that the largest 135 freight operator in the country would AT LEAST throw its OWN pilots a bone.....

are AMF guys still allowed to jumpseat on SWA and Horizon....if so, isn't it supposed to be known as a "recipricol jumpseat agreement"?

This HAS to be insurance company motivated. I can't think of anyone in BUR since GH left that would be dense enough to come up with this without some serious motivation. In any case, whoever is responsible for this is in need of a serious rubber hose beating.

Yes...and yes. Official word is we have been approved to carry jumpseaters again and are in the "final stages" of the process. What that means and how long it will be before it actually takes effect is anyone's guess though. On a side note: SW did rescind our j/s awhile back because we couldn't reciprocate, but they reinstated it a couple months ago. I guess we convinced them we would be able to take them again soon or something.

I'm just curious, but wouldn't the Eagle Jet time building programs give Amflight an incentive to ban jumpseating? They need that seat for the timebuilders. Is that timebuilding stuff still going on much?

Doubt it. I believe the way the F/O program works is they buy the time in advance, and then fly it off on their own schedule. So it's already been paid for whether they fly or not. I don't know how many F/O's we have since they're not on the seniority list, but from what I've experienced it's only a handful (or less) per base. Personally I'd take a jumpseater over an F/O anyday. I've put in my time as a CFI and I don't really need that 5 bucks an hour that bad. I know we're not the greatest company around, but it would be really low for them to ban jumpseaters to accomodate paying F/O's, and I have a hard time believing they'd stoop to that level. But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

The above is correct. We are in the final stages allowing pilots from other companies to ride our jumpseat. Not exactly sure when the exact date will be of when we can allow offline jumpseaters, but it is supposed to be very soon. For more information, you might want to try talking to the Flight Dept. or calling our Dispatch in Burbank. 1-800-800-4538. I believe they are who you need to contact in order to get on the jumpseat list.

AZaviator

Thanks for the info. On a side note, what is the BE99 schedule out of VIS to OAK like. Seems like they are there every am and depart about 1800. Seems like there are 3 BE99s a day????

I'm not too sure since I fly out of a different base. Perhaps an Oakland pilot can chime in.....

I assume there is only one jumpseat in the BE99 (stupid question I suppose)?
Well....if you want to be picky and ride in a SEAT, yea...just one... :D

The BE99 goes to ONT from VIS. The 2 PA-31s go to OAK. There is also a Lance that operates mid-day.

slomo

assuming jumpseating is allowed, is there room in a pa-31? what about the lance? Just a dumb military guy here!

thanks
jj

At the moment only Southwest Pilots are allowed to jump seat with us. AMF is in the process of getting on the CAS system and from what I understand that will open the door to others.

All AMF aircraft have room for at least one jump seater. Normally they would sit in the co-pilot seat. The Meto's and BE-1900's have room for two. From what I have heard the Lance is soon to be a thing of the past. Not sure when, but they will be replaced by the PA31-350's.

BUR Dispatch is the best source of info. Dial 1-800-800-4538 and Mary will be happy to connect you. If you want to help us out and get things rolling between AMF and your company talk to John Hazllett. We are happy to take anyone we can.

Well the jumpseat's are in the final final stages. And Only southwest pilots can jumpseat on our aircraft and we can jump on theres. With a couple excceptions AMF will only Jumpseat our own if, We Need a plane somewhere and no pilot to fly it then jumpseat him out there. or a repo flight. not to long ago we jumpseated a man out of BUR to ONT on a 1900 so he could pick up an Airplane. on the 99 jumpseat i have seen them put in a jumpseat in the bay 1 and when it came back it was occupied.

Probably someone getting their checkairman status and that third person was the FAA.

it might have been a checkride, but several times in training a third seat was put into a 99, and two trainees came along so they could switch seats mid training.

i was under the impression that we already have a reciprocal jumpseat with SWA, and SWA only. in order to get it with others we're having to put our info in to that CAS database, and now all pilots must have a passport to do so.

lastly, there is also a metro that runs from FAT to PDX, but its a night run.

Guys

Thanks for the responses, it is appreciated. Where is the Burbank office, do they accept walkins to ask questions?

Ameriflight's offices are located at the southwest side of the Burbank Airport. Its the building with the rotating beacon on the top. Not sure about walk ins, however, you can give it a shot. The receptionist can probably answer that question. Again, you could probably get the same information by calling our 1-800 number and talking with Dispatch.

WEll I cant say they talk to likley to walkins. Its better to call. Halter and so fourth are busy people. Just call and ask for dispatch and we will tell you all about it, though most things have been said here Already. BEst of luck.
