I hate to beat a dead horse, but after my last experience with an offline jumpseater I just wanted to say a few things.

1. Jumpseating is a privilege. Ask me for a ride, don't tell me you will be riding with me.

2. I am not the only one on the airplane... the F.O. and Flight Attendants are alive too.... introduce yourself to them!

3. A "thanks for the ride" after we arrive is expected.

That's it. You are always welcome!

'nuff said..........please

AMEN!!!!! Seems pretty simple.

thanks for the comment about the FO and FA being alive too. my recent experience...delta 737 cpt jumps on our airplane from phx to slc this past weekend. stands in front of me at the gate agent's counter, doesn't say a thing. gets on the plane, doesn't say a thing or so much as introduce himself to me. waited at the gate for 20 mins while cpt went to get dispatch, doesn't even so much as acknowledge my presence. 1:48 in the cockpit, doesn't say a word to me. upon arrival at slc, thanks the cpt for the ride and shakes his hand. again, not a word.

walking to the van after the flight i mention it to my captain. he says "gee, i didn't even notice he did that".

sometimes you have to wonder...
