What has been your experience with JSSI and/or MSP for the 731?

Which is a better product?

who has the better customer service?

Who is quicker to respond?

MSP is more expensive right?

Thanks

I recently had an MPI done under JSSI coverage. JSSI underestimted the cost significantly which really upset my boss. They should have known it would be more, but their attitude was "we can't tell how much it wil be until it's in the shop." The shop told me while certain items were not really predictable most were.

If I was buying a plane and it had 100% JSSI coverage I wouldn't care but if you don't have 100% be very careful you know how much coverage you have and be very suspicious about the previous treatment of the engine.

MSP Gold is the only way to go.

I believe Gold covers R&R, insures a loaner (unless none available) and so on.

You're correct, it does cover all of that. An R/R alone I think is in the neighborhood of $8000 bucks these days. (at least that was what I was told) Plus they cover all of the logistical support of getting the crew to you to actually perform the work.

Bottom line, if you decide to go MSP spring the extra $26/hr. and get the Gold.

The replacement of a 12 O'Clock Prob costs over $6,000 and MSP covers that. We have MSP Gold but I was thinking of the JSSI insurance for the rest of the airframe. I wonder if they do that? And I would also like to know anyone's experiences regarding JSSI customer service if you break down overseas.

Eventhough regular MSP does not cover the engine R&R, most shops will throw in the R&R as part of the CZI package. The shops are making more than enough money on the CZI. Even when the engine came off for reasons other than a CZI,(had a oil leak in the core) I got the shop to swallow the cost of the R&R. There are lots of shops out there competing for the same business! One thing is for sure........I would not opperate any Garrett without some kind of coverage. It is a great engine and one that has never let me down, but you will most likly have some sort of problem between CZI's that will warrent removal of the engine. I only opperated -3's and they are ran a bit harder than -2's.

We have JSSI on our Beechjet engines and airframe. This is my first experience with them, and so far so good.

We have MSP gold on our Westwinds and we couldn't be happier.

The Westwind has TFE-731-3-1G engines. Ours used to have Electronic Engine Control (EEC) only. With MSP, Honeywell provided us with DEECs (Digital Electronic Engine Control).
We were told Honeywell wants to eventually replace all EECs with DEECs.

We checked with JSSI in the past and made the decision to stick with MSP. JSSI coverage was not 100% and did not cover things like loaner engines.

Also, something which had a lot of bearing on our decision was the fact that taking an aircraft off of MSP and putting it on JSSI has the tendency of reducing the resale value of the aircraft.

If our planes flew 1000 hours on JSSI and then we sold them, the buyer would be responsible for back paying for the 1000 hours if he/she wanted to put the aircraft back on MSP. In reality, as the seller we would end up eating that cost.

Suggestion is to go with MSP over JSSI, but I would contact both to get the full details about each program, specific to your needs and aircraft/engine type.
