Just heard about the JPATS program. It seems that it is run by the U.S. marshalls/DOJ. I was wondering if any one had the gouge on the times, requirements etc. I went to the web site for the marshalls office and found the general requirements for the dep. marshall. But was wondering about the pilot requirements.

Thanks
JW

I have talked with them in the past. There seems to be few hard requirements.

1. Must be a US citizen

2. Must have a clean criminal record

3. Must pass a few background check

The background check is one of the killers for them. It takes over 6 months.

The flight time requirements are not published. But they like to see considerable flight time and experience.

There are three main bases, OKC, IWA and AEX. They operate MD80s, HS125s and LR25s. And the pilots will be cross qualified in at least 2 different aircraft.

It is a Monday through Friday job, with almost no weekends or federal holidays.

Right now you almost have to be a veteran to get on.

Hope that helps.

What does JPATS stand for?

10 years ago it was the Joint Primary Aircraft Training System.

What's this one about?
