I met a gentleman at the airport the other day who happened to mention that he was retiring from a small charter airline in the midwest in August. Although 59 he seemed in great shape and spirits and wants to keep flying. He figured that I was more in tune with the current job market and asked me to keep my ears open for possibilities. I curiously asked him his qualifications and he said 12,000 hours and 727 and 737 type ratings. The guy was too nice to leave hanging. Thanks for the help Jumppilot03

EJ & Flight Options seem to hire quite a few of the "older" guys that have recently retired... If I was in his position that is where I would be looking-

Jobs past 60

The gentleman could always go back to the FE seat in the 727, if he can find an opening. Or else, with his quals, he could find an FE seat on other equipment.

He can still fly 135 past 60. He can fly corporate. He can instruct at FlightSafety, etc. on both airplanes. Depending on the diversity of his other experience and if he has or can reclaim his CFI, he can do plenty of things. E.g. instruct, be a Chief Flight Instructor, be a DE, or any combination of these. Students and new pilots would benefit greatly from having such a person as a mentor.

Hope these ideas help your friend.
