Hey guys:

Got a job interview with an individual who owns a CJ2+ in the midwest. He is an owner/operator with about 10,000 hrs. of which about 5,000 are in Citations. From talking on the phone, seems to be a decent guy. Just wondering if you guys who fly or have flown for owner/operators have any words of advice about flying with an owner/operator. Things to look for in the interview, etc. Sounds like we alternate legs and he sometimes stays in the back and lets his pilot do all the flying on some trips.

Input guys?

Is this in Iowa? If so, sounds like the guy who flew over the White House a few years back. He has been through lots of pilots.

I'vr worked for and flew with many owner operators and it has always been the same old. Thy are the cheapist muthf()ckers you will ever meet they try and save a penny at all ends.

Now don't get me wrong you have to be conservitive to profit in this business bt these owner operators take cheap to the next level. Some of the stories and situations I have encountered with these type I could write a book about.

Good luck be careful and ask around really ask around.

My experience has been similar.

owner operators are pain big on ego little on brains. If you take the job make sure 1. your life insurance paid in full. 2 you have good aviation attorney.

Avoid it at all cost... There all the same.... They cant help themselves..

owner operator

The previous threads sound like good advice and from experince. Most owner operators seem to be less interested as proffesional pilots, as compared to its "my airplane", we don't need that or this is how I do it, which is not always acceptable in the real world. Usually fairley cheap, but not always, some are okay. The best advise was to talk to the last pilot who worked there or the previouse pilot before him. After 5 minutes, the information will be enough.

If you are not doing anything else, it might be fun for awhile.
Good luck:)

I agree... most owner operators are cheapskates and a total pain
usually more headaches than they are worth
