Got the news today that my wife may get relocated to Washington D.C. in a few months. Since she makes most of the dough, looks like I'll be pounding on some doors. Can anyone size up the local job market and/or furnish some leads. I'd have to guess that there are alot of pilots living in the area seeing that its a hub for most of the frax and several regionals. Thanks!!

I think Northrop Grumman has a Citation X and XL some where around DC (Manassas I think) and they always seem to be hiring, but that may be a bad thing and I may be thinking of the wrong company. There's a charter company out of MTN with a pair of CE525's (a CJ1 and CJ2) aswell as numerous King Airs and a CE650. I'll get their name for you tommorow.

job

Check out Chantily Air in Manassas. VA. they were looking to hire Lear drivers.

Northrop Grumman's CE-750 domicile is out of MD, but I can't recall the exact city. Definitely not in VA. I would advise caution if pursuing this avenue. This is based on information received from a former NG Pilot/ Chief Pilot and friend of mine. Good luck in your search :)

Am-av is the name of the company in MTN. I guess it's short for American Aviation, but every calls it Am-av around here. If Grummans X's are in MD they they are more then likely based at HGR, FDK, or BWI. I've never noticed them at any of the other "big" airports in MD, but I may have just missed them. I thought I saw in the job advertisment that they were in Manansas, but that's not MD.

Try Martinair out of IAD. Don't confuse them with Martinaire in Texas or the outfit across the pond. The do have a website and an online application.

Get ready for sticker shock on the cost of housing.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Do any of you if these companies (Martinair, Grumman) are actively hiring. Also, does anyone have a sense of the available pilot pool in the area? In other words, how competitive is the job market down there? One last question, does anyone have access to the NBAA database of part 91 operators in the area?

Thanks again for the help!!

Martinair has the corporate base in Richmond, VA

They (Martinair) have a small operation at IAD.

It is a very tight market in the DC area.

Also:

Gannett, USA Today

Rouse Company: HS-125: I pounded their door for a year.

Northrup has an office building at BWI near the MARC Train. You can drop a resume there.

Black and Decker at MTN.

Citationshares has a base at BWI

How about Citatoinshares? Think your CJ type might help there?
Give them a shot.

A couple more leads at MTN for you

They just got a GV and either a new Falcon 900 or just repainted the old one. I'd imagine you need a lot more then 2,000 hours to fly with them though. Mickormick got a Challenger 604. Fox has a GIII, and Deninsin has three old Gulfstreams, a Lear 60, a Conquest II, and a Falcon 10. Rosemore has a Hawker 800, but I don't think they are looking for any more pilots. I really doubt you have the time for them, but Lockheed Martin has a pair of G550's and a pair of G200's and a beautiful new hanger. Maryland State Police has a King Air 350 and 90 and a P210 that civilians fly. California Microwave has an ATR and a King Air that they do some weird stuff in for a government contract, but the planes never fly.
