I am moving out to the SOCAL ( Orange County ) area in the beginning of next year, and am on the job hunt . I was wondering if anyone knew of any instructing positions available in the area, or any type of aviation related work for a hardworking, professional pilot. I've been doing the usual searches on the web and have even subscribed to a couple of sites, but it just seems there are no jobs to be had unless you meet 135 mins. Anyways, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, JP

PA44 time? Check out Rainbow Air and Aviation West at LGB. They both have Seminoles. Also check out AFI at FUL - part 141 school with a Duchess.

Some other flight schools to check out would be Sunrise Aviation, Lenair and Royal Aviation, all at SNA. Don't know what types of twins they have, though.

Lenair has Piper Aztec's, Sunrise has a Seminole, OCFC has a Seminole and Royal has no twin at all.

If you want to instruct in twins, the place to go is All ATPs (Riverside and Long Beach) or ADP (Another Dead Pilot, at Brackett Field). I *heard* that All ATPs may consider hiring off the street.

Uh oh...no no no, Vik...recommending ADP? I really don't want to lose another member of flightinfo. Difficult enough to read about skyking1976. Do you want that on your conscience?

Another Dead Pilot

Another Downed Piper

Atccfi, do your research well before deciding on ADP. If you decide to go there, please do thorough preflights and learn to say no.

Thats why I added "Another Dead Pilot" next to it.

I've flown an Archer there once and won't fly *anything* there again.

But most of their accidents are pilot error. A couple of them are their students getting IFR tickets, then flying into the mtn over there shooting the missed at Brackett. If you can't shoot the missed at YOUR HOME BASE something is really wrong.

He's got 650 TT, so he could work instructing in multis for a few months and be outta there.

West Coast Charters out of SNA is where a lot of CFIs ended up prior to getting picked up by Skywest. They hire into the right seat of King Airs.

Aside from them, there are probably dozens of companies in SoCal (LA/OC/SD). Lots of charter ops around here and it seems like there is a new one everyday trying to develop a niche market.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the replies. I don't think West Coast Charters is doing the right seat program anymore... JP
