I was just informed that 16 of my former brothers will be on the street in two weeks. All 30's will be parked.
Sorry to hear it guys.
True. And other shadyness has ensued.
From someone who used to have *some* faith in Jetride...
DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT APPLYING TO JETRIDE! They are dirtbags. They do not care about seniority. They do not care about people.
Managers there just give their "buddies" (i.e. people who do free work for them) the upgrades and spots that others should get.
The managers there lie. They cheat. They send out BS mission statements about what a great place Jetride is.
Jetride is officially a dump now. Chalk it up as one more crappy 134 1/2 outfit.
STAY FAR AWAY.
Congrats to all who have already escaped. Good luck to those who have gotten laid off.
I want to take back a few things I've said here. Now that I've been gone from there a bit and cooled down some, I think I was wrong to call the names. I don't have direct evidence that anyone there is a liar. However, it is completely true that they have been circumventing their own policies for some time now, and the way they have handled several people I know seems very suspicious.
The company has a long way to go... things have gotten worse, not better, for pilots there. People that are still there have to pay more for health insurance now. They also work more now.
Apparently they just did another round of layoffs, and again they did it outside of seniority. Some think they picked and chose whom to lay off and used some base structure to justify their choices.
Who knows why they did it the way they did? They obviously won't be hiring many people in the short term, although they are going to lose more pilots to attrition with the sad state of affairs for pilots, and they will likely hire new people instead of the laid off guys and gals.
So, my advice stands... if you have the mins for NJA, Flex, anyone else, go there. I really wouldn't go to Jetride if you can help it. Their sad financial state is just too unstable to be comfortable there. And you can't even count on your seniority, so that makes it more uneasy. You never know when they'll call and tell you you're gone for some arbitrary reason. Guys with nearly ten years of seniority have been let go recently while guys with two or less years still have a job.
Good luck to you guys still there. Hopefully you can all move on to something better... I think everyone understands layoffs for financial reasons. But the way they are handling layoffs.... completely strange. Maybe it will take a flood of resignation letters for them to get the message. They want to be the best charter operator with a skeleton staff who aren't empowered, aren't paid industry average, and never know when they will lose their jobs...
To the anyone in management in the new "Aspen Jetride" who may read this, or those of you who like to pass blog info to the bosses...
Good luck being the "premier" charter operator with that kind of attitude toward employees. You'll need it. One doesn't need an MBA to see that companies who treat their employees like this generally don't become wild success stories.
For the sake of the company, and the pilots, I hope their attitude changes.
Happy trails, and good luck to all.
Let me guess, either you were drunk when you wrote the previous post or you have been approached by their lawyers...
Neither. I was angry. I shouldn't have called names. It was a mistake.
I have had a great working relationship with management, but I just fundamentally disagree with how they are handling things now.
aka "the boogey men", are scrolling through these posts.
I was so impressed with Jetride when I interviewed. I was even more impressed at indoc. Was still impressed when I started work. Then I started wondering why I was only flying 1 or 2 trips a week....sometimes less. Then I met the marketing team and realized that they didn't believe in the market for the 30 series planes. They couldn't sell a trip in the 35 while other companies were staying busy. Then the new owner changed the name to Aspen Jetride. What a marketing disaster that turned out to be. You can not take 25 airplanes and focus on one vacation town. That brainfart has cost 30+ people their jobs, but has also saved the company $2 million in pilot salaries over the next year. I'm sure that the new CEO has received a huge pat on the back for the savings!!
As soon as I heard the guy had a "Harvard MBA" (oooohhh, we're SO impressed), I knew layoffs were coming. That's the hallmark of any MBA hotshot who has a reputation for "turning companies around."
