Can anyone tell me what the training is like? How is the computer based stuff? Just interested, thanks.

The training at JB is very straightforward. The 190 is company wide known as "a gentleman's program." It was tailored to the beginning to be AQP which our recurrent now is. The 320, when the co first started, was a maneater. Today, it is regarded as straightforward with quality instructors, no tricks, and a professional, yet very low stress affair.

The people in charge of training, known as JBU/OSC (Jetblue University ala the Training Center/ Orlando Support Center) really treat you as their customer and strive to give you the line pilot the best possible training, with the best tools (lap top, manuals on laptop, scripts/elements, and best instructors possible) to make your time in MCO enjoyable, fun, and worthwhile. As a newhire, you most likely will be paired up FO/FO for Sim.

From my point of view, most of the 320 program is spent learning to fly and think like an Airbus pilot. If youve never flown one before, it wont take long to realize that its slightly different than others you have flown. ie managed v. selected, autothrust, mcdu, mother may i fly by wire.

190 is much more like a boeing, but its systems are highly automated. and the hud which is easy.

Probably the biggest hurdle for most is learning to look at the laptop for info. At first, your like,'cool, the internet', but then you realize there are 30 some-odd manuals on there to reference. Youll quickly get a handle on it though. Just not having paper manuals in front of you takes some getting used to. Then their are the emails...but thats another story.

Good luck, relax, and have fun. Get to know your classmates and enjoy yourself. It really is straightforward and is not the pressure filled/anal retentive program you may know all to well in your past. JB is not a systems airline, they are a procedures (ie brief what your doing, use CRM, use SOPs) airline so you are responsible for the most important limitations and basic systems knowledge. Alot of stuff they consider "nice to know." There's only a handful of profiles to know, and most are the same for 1 or 2 engines. Callouts are relatively straightforward, and just take practice. Youll have plenty of time and there is absolutely no need to get gouge before you go/or study early.

They want to see you excel; after all theyre investing $ to train you.

Dont listen to zkmayo...he does not know what he is talking about. training is hard!!!! ;)

the 190 program allows you to work on your liver tolerance...

Liver? What is that.......

Ahh, the hotel bar and virgin atlantic fa's, nothing like training...cant wait for recurrent.
