---JETBLUE TO START FLIGHTS BETWEEN BOSTON, NYC---
JetBlue will likely be dog fighting this fall against Delta and American
on one of the nation's most heavily traveled routes: Boston to New York.
Delta and American have been flying for years from Boston to Kennedy
Airport, where passengers connect with those airlines' flights. Low-cost
JetBlue said that it wants to provide connecting service for its Boston
passengers, too. The majority of JetBlue's flights are to domestic
cities, while Delta and American serve domestic and international markets.
JetBlue would be stepping in with cheap fares at a time when Delta and
American are struggling against low-cost carriers.

Delta flies from BOS to JFK? I just looked at the current schedule and Comair flies 6 daily CRJs from BOS to JFK. No Delta mainline flights. Now, we do have a very successful Shuttle that flies a combo of 737-300s and 737-800s from BOS to LGA. Jetblue has not been awarded that, and the going rate for a cab from JFK to Manhattan is $45 one way. Add that to your ticket.

GL.........last time I checked it's $30 from LGA to Manhattan. Now you can take the subway for $1.50 from LGA, but I wouldn't want to have luggage. Most of the time you can usually find someone to share a cab. It's not all that bad.:)

Lowecur,

I just took a cab from Manhattan to LGA--and that was around $30 with tip. The guy told me that it was capped at $45 for Manhattan to JFK to protect foreign tourists. I am sure you could take the bus from Grand Central ( I forgot the name), and that could be $25.

Bye Bye--General Lee

PS---If you want to share a cab for 1 hour in traffic to Manhattan with a guy just off from the Turkish A340 from Istanbul (11 hour flight)---go right ahead. That would be awesome.

The General is right regarding the cab fare from JFK to Manhattan -- about $45.

The Airtrain/subway combo is cheap, but will take a while.

The Airtrain/LIRR combo is much quicker (roughly 30 minutes), but costs a bit more.

The Airporter bus to Port Authority Bus Terminal is $12 ($6 with the discount tickets), but depends on traffic.

Now that that's been said...

Where did the South Florida Sun-Sentinel get this story? Whenever JetBlue starts new service, we always get advance notice from the company (granted, not much in advance, but we do get an email immediately before the press release goes out).

Unless I accidentally deleted it, I do not recall receiving anything about firm plans for BOS-JFK service. Maybe the reporter was simply speculating about potential general plans for the future...?

I do think that route may be under consideration for some point in the future, but so are a lot of other routes.

I agree, however, take a look on the "intranet"site and look under Jetblue News. Not only does it say something about BOS-JFK but it mentions JFK to another North East City.
