you're ASSuming that they were in fact interviewed by said airlines... most high time, experienced pilots I know who don't work for one of the "majors" simply just don't know the right people to get to the interview.

Sorry, I should have clarified. If we hire a high time Part 121 PIC guy then it is safeR to assume they have less of a chance of jumping to DAL/FedEx/SWA if they havent already.

If you have been in the 121 industry for 10+yrs and dont have contacts at DAL, SWA, FedEx then it will be less likely to gain those contacts overnight, unless you save the chief pilots kid from a burning house or something.

If I was running a company, I would definitly not hire someone with the "I am not helping the company" attitude over someone with a hard working "can do" ethic. There is one company out there who is highly unionized and very successful because their employees do not have that attitude( that company has a "what can I do to help?" attitude---and it works!... the rest.. well, its obvious how well it is working. The "I am not heping the company" attitude is one of the main reasons companies can not catch up in this industry.

TPIC is not going to be worth much in the next hiring wave, however I think the minimim wil be 1000 PIC at most places in the beginning.

Companies are going to want hard workers; check airman and people who have taken initative and worked hard for their companies. TPIC will mean something but not as much since everyone has it. Those leadership jobs, masters degrees and other hard working traits will be key in the next few years.

but wait.... I was told there was a pilot shortage now?

Not yet... and I am not sure there will be.

Just read on another board that 3 JB captains recently left for Fedex and another for Atlas (can't confirm the exact numbers). The difference in benefits and pay between JB and Fedex has got to be large...

Ya don't say. Man I am glad you pointed that out for us since we didn't already know that. Incase you didn't already do a search, the pay difference between Fedex and everyone else is large. In the U.S. anyway

if Southwest, Alaska, and Delta have much better overall compensation packages, then why don't you work there instead?

I've heard we have a bunch of B6 apps. I guess people are taking his advice.

What, can't stand the idea that B6 might be a stepping stone for your F/Os?

I have no problem with B6 being a stepping stone. If Fedex calls I will jump ship faster than anyone else. I just can't figure out why you chime in on post that have nothing to do with Alaska airlines. I see you chime in on post from Fedex to Colgan and everything in between. Even though you know nothing about working at these other airlines. I mean you must get on FI every single day. Get some other hobbies man.
