Attention JetBlue Interviewees.

Along with todays Q1 results announcement, it now looks like the last A320 newhire class will be held in May. All others will be E190 F/O classes.

For your planning puposes, be sure you can afford it before you go to work at JB.

The last A320 Capt upgrade will be in June. No other A320 newhire or upgrades are planned until the end of the year.

I would expect the overall hire plans to slow down as well.

I looked all over the intranet and couldn't find that hiring report. You did attatch a cover sheet, didn't you? I'll fax you another copy of the memo that I thought clearly states all hiring reports need a cover sheet.

You lost me on that one. I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about.

What is your forecast for the remainder of the year? With a possible sale of
2-5 aircraft, deliveries deferred and pulling down some transcons, do you expect JBs hiring plans to remain the same?

This is a forum, with just our ideas and opinions. No cover sheet is required, to my knowledge.

Enjoy your day.

I would hope that anyone who is interviewing with JetBlue (or any other carrier for that matter) would verify this sort of information with the company, instead of believeing what you read on these boards. No degree is required for speculation.............especially concerning airlines.

I agree. These are good and fair questions for the interview.

The aircraft issues I discussed are fact. The hiring plans are just my opinion, based on todays announcements. It would just make sense that the hiring will slow a little this year.

My understanding is that is a Major Airline Interview Forum.

Flightinfo.com Hangar > Aviation Interview Board > Majors

Everything read here should be checked out, including anything that I have discussed.

That is completely FALSE!!

I asked Dave Barger about that two weeks ago down in Orlando, and he said they are projecting a decrease in hiring of about 30 Airbus pilots a year, or roughly one less per class.

He said we're basically slowing our hiring and growth down from around 29% to 25%, while still going strong on the E190 hirings and aircraft deliveries.

I hope this helps clear up some of the false info. floating around here!

Sidestick,

You really need to see the movie "Office Space." The guy giving you a hard time about the cover sheet thing is quoting the movie. Anyhow, see it and then reread his post, and guaranteed youll get it and laugh.

The VP of flight ops sent out an email today outlining much of what was stated above about the 320 and hiring. It is pretty accurate.

This is completely true. Also the company is starting a FO "lance " program so FO's will be checked out to fly the Capt. position when needed. This blows!!!! This job is going down the toliet.

If it "blows" to you, then take a hike. Nobody's keeping you at JB. The company is doing what is necessary to return us to a profit. IMHO, I don't think the program is a bad one and it will give us more flexiblity.

OK ... I must admit I didn't see the movie, so that one went over my head.

Sorry

Thanks Kit,
I'm sure they couldn't have figured that out for themselves.

Maybe you guys will think of voting in a union when everyone on reserve is a FO. Why have captains on reserve when you could just use a FO and fly them in both seats......jesus I swear!

Uhh, Southwest has a union don't they? Uhh, the also have this little element that is called the "lance captain" program.

Perhaps you should not swear at Jesus and he too is probably shaking his head at you.

Does SW have captains that sit reserve? Why do you think they don't have FO's sitting reserve as captains? Maybe because the DO have a union.

Yes, SWA has 'Lance Captains' who are senior FOs, top 8% of FO line holders in a domicle I think. Most guys only do it for a few months, but some guys do it for a while for quality of life reasons, some guys don't do it at all. The history is that we created it back in the day so that if the company got a bunch more planes all of the sudden, we'd have captains to fly them. As in, back when we had 40 planes and then got a good deal on 10 more. There is some debate now about the validity of the program when we have 445 planes. Company likes it because we can cover captain trips in a crunch. It enables captains to give away trips if they want pretty easily (or so I've heard). We do have a minimum of 8% (I think) of guys on reserve though, Captain and FO, per the contract. I think most guys opinions of the program depend on where they sit (like everything in life, it is relative).
