Anyone experienced any fuel contamination in Mexico? I'm talking about the bigger airports....Cabo, Loreto, Hermosillo, etc. What methods do you use to check for fuel contamination?

I have been flying to Mexico for years and have never experienced any sort of fuel contamination.

I wouldn't for the life of me know how to check for it either.

I guess when you are at FL410 and the fuel filter light comes on that would be a good indication. :)

Seth, clean out your PM box, sorry for the hi-jack

Jet-A in Mexico is quality stuff, if you are going somewhere that major airlines go to, you won't have any issues.

Talk to me about taking on fuel from fuel bladders in Bolivia someday and thats a whole different story....

Does anyone know the ratio of prist cans to gallons of fuel? Most places in Mexico the fuel is not preblended.

I do not have a can in front of me but I think it is good for 105 gallons minimum and 155 gallons maximum. Never have had a fuel issue with the fuel in Mexico.

Read and follow the label directions.

As far as contamination goes, I've NEVER had a problem with fuel contamination anywhere south of the border including South America. I wish I could say the same for the fuel that I've purchased here in the states.

If you feel so inclined, you can buy individual fuel sample testers. I know they're available (we used them for a couple of years) but I don't remember where we got them. I'd probably check with a Jet Fuel Supplier (Jobber).
