Does Jet Blue ever hire pilots with no jet time? I have been at my airline for seven years, I'm a captain and a check airman.... but it's still going to be a very long time before I do anything other than deadhead on one of our RJs.
I'm thinking about stopping by one of the upcoming AirInc conferences. Would I be wasting my time talking to the B6 reps?

Yes, JB does hire people without jet time.

The fact that you are a check airman helps. Do you update regularly? How much PIC do you have? Do you meet all the requirements?

Keep at it.

I went to the Air Inc. conference in Atlanta in November and got the call from JetBlue about a month later. Three friends of mine went eariler last year and had the same thing happen (two had zero jet time by the way). Of course I also have friends who went to the same conference I did and have not been called yet. Overall I don't think it could hurt to go and show you are interested. I did see a lot of guys at my interview that were in line with me in Atlanta.

Good luck!

I had my app in at jetBlue for almost 2 years. After I went to AIR Inc I received a call 4 days later. I guess maybe it helped and I only had about 700 jet PIC.

That is about the same amount of time I had but it was jet time. I agree with the other guys that doesn't really matter.

I can't get them to call me.....5000+ total 2900 jet pic and nearly 4000 in an Embraer. No check airman positions available otherwise I'd do it. I'd be happy to fly an E190 for them. In fact I've looked at the cockpit layout...very similar to the 145. It would be like differences training, especially with all the different differences I've been through with my current company and all the different 145's we have. Whats the difference anyway?

Go to the job fair. You've certainly got good numbers. Just need to get your resume put on top of the stack.

QX. Not only does the turbine matter, but a/c gross weight plays a big part. We hired a pilot recently who has over 10k flt.time, almost all turbine from the corp. world. His wife has been with the company since day one. But because he didn't have the time in a/c over 20k gw., he wasn't qualified until he got the time. We hire a lot of Navy P-3 drivers. Again, not jet time but heavy gw time. Keep updating and best of luck! Hope to fly with you soon!

Mr. Hat:

You have 4 year degree, correct?

Assuming you do, don't give up. It took them three YEARS to call me. I started applying online over 3 years ago, updated regularly the entire time, and they finally called back in October of '05. I had allready accepted employment elsewhere so I dont have any info on the interview process. But keep updating the app and good luck.

Don't worry about the degree.

I do not have a degree unfortunatly. I quit college to hurry up and get my ratings so I could build CFI time while in college......Then I got caught up in a hiring spree that landed me here at Expressjet. I stopped college in 1996 right before the big boom and I thought I'd be instructing for a few years. Ah well, I got lots of flight time though. I have considered going back but money is always an issue living in NJ and raising a family.

Anyway as for the Job fair, I never went but thats only because I had heard that Jetblue didn't really take it into consideration.

Well I too have had my app in for the last 2 years: B.S., Check Airman in ATR, 6500tt, 2600pic 121, B-737 typed. Went into the DC AirInc last year, No call yet....But I still update and cross fingers....

College Degree

Dont worry about the college degree at Jet Blue.. I just got hired have 3 years completed of college BUT am enrolled in Embry Riddle Online

I start feb 1st..

My Times were strong though in comparison to other guys i spoke to

MOST IMPORTANT: Log onto the JB website and update your info WEEKLY!

If you do not you will get lost in the pile

Good Luck!
