Hello!

Got a call from FEDEX this morning. I'm scheduled for a sim early January and...if I pass, go to the interview the next day. If there's someone who does interview prep, would they please let me know. In the meantime,I'll pass on any other helpfull details on time lines etc as I get them for any other FEDEX wannabees. Thanks for any help!

No...I am furloughed from USAirways and before that, I was w/ TWA and USAir express. I'm now just doing the military thing. sean

Sean: Albie15 does an interview prep and also can hook you up with a sim prep in Memphis very close to the interview site. I highly recommend the sim prep. You can locate Albie on this site. Good luck with the interview.

No, the problem would be if a "capable C-5 guy" interviewed poorly or doesn't even get to interview because he/she can't make it past the sim.

Remember to bring your volleyball with a red handprint on it to your interview. When you get into the sim, set it on the glareshield and tell the evaluator if he has anything to say, he needs to address it to the ball which will in turn pass on the information at an appropriate time. . . .

Hilarious klhoard, but I think that's been done by one of our pilots already in another context.... or should I say ex-pilot!

Thanks guys. I forgot to tell you all that when I spoke w/ FEDEX pilot recr., they said that they are interviewing 3 days/week....sounds good for '05. Good luck to all!

sean67,

Congrats! Just to pass on some personal experience. All I did for sim prep was to fly the MS FlightSim 737 Glass cockpit. I flew the profile about 4 times. Went in to the interview and aced the sim. Not because I'm a good stick, but because... if you can fly a glass cockpit using just a computer screen and joystick w/ no seat of the pants, then flying the actual sim is a breeze. Just had a friend of mine interview 3 weeks ago w/ same success. The key is to know which sim they'll use (A300/DC-10) and know the gouge numbers. Give Albie15 a holler, and he'll prep ya up. I don't know him personally, but all the board members have positive experiences w/ him. Not to mention, he's a FedEx guy. I'd give you the profile numbers, but it's been over 2 years for me, so I don't remember them anymore.
Good luck,

Thanks skytrain! just got my application packet....for those of you waiting for the call, I'd suggest getting all your work history, logbooks and background info compiled. The list is quite lengthy.sean

While Skytrain may have aced the sim eval 2 years ago, I would still strongly suggest some serious sim prep prior to your interview. 2 out the 3 guys that I know who have been invited to Memphis since Aug did not make it through the sim eval. On of those had done the sim prep in Miami in an Aibus sim but then got the DC-10 sim for his eval. The other did no sim prep at all. Both were high time, 20 year jet pilots, but who weren't flying a ton lately, and they just had bad days that particular day.

If you haven't been flying a lot lately (and even if you have) I would strongly recommend the sim prep. I think that although the sim profile may be the same as it ever was (I don't know that it is) the "eval" part has definitely gotten tougher. Many more folks seem to be failing the sim eval than ever before, and it may be that the company thinks this will improve our accident rate.

The one guy I know who made it through the sim eval did the DC-10 sim prep through Albie in Memphis the night before his sim eval. He got the eval in the -10 also. He said he was sure glad that he did the prep.

So I certainly wouldn't take a cavalier attitude toward the sim eval. If you think you can do it without a prep, go for it, but in this day and age I would stack the deck as much in my favor as I could.

Also, for those contemplating a trip to Memphis to meet an ACP or the SCP, only 1 of the 3 had met a CP, and that was a chance meeting a year before the interviews started up again this past summer. So it is certainly possible to get an interview without a face to face with a CP. A FCIF was put out a few weeks ago with the procedures for setting up a meet and greet with a CP though, so if it is possible it would be a good idea to have your sponsor set one of those up as well. Every little bit helps.

Best of luck to those in the app process.
