Anyone attending the DFW job fair in January have any luck as far as getting a response on their resumes.

Several of the airlines attending that I talked to, left me with an impression that I'll be recieving an application in the near future. Some of them rather vaguely but some rather firm. However I still haven't heard a peep from any of them.

Still hopefull but starting to think it might have been a vaste of time after all.

fly safe,

Great if you do hear, but I would NOT pin my hopes on them doing that.

You hear an awful lot about how great these seminars are for "face" time and they might work but only for a very small minority. I did this kind of thing about 10-12 years ago (anyone remember FAPA?!!) when I was green about the whole issue. I lapped it all up, bought the books and manuals and had my 20 seond fame handing in my resume with about 500 other hopeguls. Best description was a cattle market except the cattle wore suits! It did not get me anywhere at all, no body called, nothing. I went away completely disillusioned - who wouldn't be especially with all the hype. The best part was the "couseling" that came after. They kept tellin me to get a type rating - already had it - customize your resume - already had it done professionally - to keep hanging in there!!! Basically, they ran out out ideas.

Air Inc is simply a reincarnation of FAPA and is strictly a business. And like some businesses, it takes your money, promises you a lot and falls short in a number of areas which are covered by the small print. There are NO gaurantees in this business - even by attending seminars! They like you to think that you'll get something out of it but the reality is, the majority of those attending simply do not. I'd like to see some stats from Air INc. (and backed up by hard fact) on those attendees who were subsequently successful as a DIRECT result of going to one of these meetings. I know some have already posted that they were but I stand by my original statement of a very small minority out of the total attending.

I thought about going once but then thought about it. The very same airline that I had applied to (months prior) was going to have a hiring rep there. If I had not been called in several months (and I was competitive), what difference would it really make to present yet another resume? I would feel uncomfortable playing this game. Besides what is the message: pay to get an interview? If face time is really that important, I would rather go direct to the company's HQ and do it that way.

Just my two cents worth and from someone that did it all many moons ago. Some things never change.....
