Saw a Jetstream under USairways colours in PIT (waterski??) What happened to their ERJs? Did they sell 'em as rumored to a european company?

yes, we're flying 41's out of pit now and we are getting rj's from crossair or some company in switzerland

Yeah I saw one in CHO any idea how many J-41s are out there and are the hiring in the J-41 or the ERJ for the next few classes?

I think we are adding 3 or 4 j41's to the U side. And they are hiring into both the j41 (left seat if you have the time) and erj.

We have plenty of FO's who have the time to upgrade, the company has told us that there wasn't enough time to upgrade FOs and keep the airplanes staffed adequately. however as late as july of this year we had pilots on furlough, so the general feeling is that the comapny is just trying to save money by hiring street captains(CQFO's) and leaving the current FOs stuck in right seat FOREVER:mad:

TSA circumvent the senority list? Say it isn't so.

Just some added info for those not familiar. There is, in fact, a provision in the CBA allowing for CQFO's, however it was certainly never the intent to allow for newhire CQFOs. But ... there's nothing explicitly prohibiting it either. So Management found itself a loophole to save on training and staffing costs. Two grievances are now on file and my guess is that the system board will eventually settle it out. Of course, by the time this happens the staffing issue will have been resolved and seniority will return to normalcy.

FWIW, during indoc the chief pilot stated that based on projected growth all newhire CQFOs should be able to hold J41 captain bids within a year. We'll see. (He also stated that without hiring CQFOs the growth in J41 flying wouldn't have occured. I'm only repeating what he said.)

And for those unfamiliar, newhires at TSA do not bid for equipment or base; it's assigned. Thus far the only ones assigned as CQFOs are furloughed from majors, almost exclusively from TWA. Ironically if given a choice at least half would've opted for EMB FO since they live in STL. (All CQFO's are assigned to the RIC base and are likely stuck there for a long while.)
