It really breaks my heart to see the total disrespect that "black leaders" have for the moral enrichening of the black youths today. They are just as guilty as Jay Z and P. Diddy, Ludacris and others who have held blacks and other youths hostage to the rest of this beautiful country. A majority of black youths tune in to BET during various times of the day. And obviously the Janet Jackson shocker was a big issue. But do you want to know the type of dialogue BET chose to go with on the topic? Read below.

Get That Look: Janet's Nipple Shield
By Kweli I. Wright, BET.com Staff Writer

Posted Feb. 3, 2003 -- Let’s face it. While some of the 89 million viewers watching Sunday’s Super Bowl halftime show were definitely turned off by the sight of Janet Jackson’s naked breast, other viewers were actually inspired by the visual of the sexy singer’s sun-shaped nipple shield body-piercing jewelry.

No doubt, piercings—and specifically nipple piercings—have been popular for decades, and Janet has been wearing nipple rings for years now. (Remember her 1997 Vibe magazine cover wearing the ring on the outside of her clothing?) But Janet’s display a few days ago has sparked the trend for a whole new audience.

In quick response, body-piercing stores are promoting the shields prominently. In New York City’s trendy Greenwich Village section, for example, Cassioppia Tattoo and Piercing's placed a newspaper photo of Jackson and her exposed breast in a display case alongside nipple decorations similar to the one Jackson wore.

So What Exactly Was Janet Wearing?

Janet’s body piercing jewelry is called a “nipple shield” designed in a sunburst pattern. The metal shield surrounds the nipple and has a rod that goes through the nipple with a ball on each end to keep it in place – one ball is permanently attached and the other end screws on and off.

What Other Designs are they and how much do they cost?

The most common types of body jewelry for nipples include: a regular barbell (also known as a stud); and a captive bead ring which is a circular shaped piece of body jewelry that is enclosed with a bead. There are countless designs, some with diamond accents, spikes, iheart shapes, flower accents, dangling horseshoes and much more. Nipple decorations are usually made of surgical stainless steel, now since they’ve grown in popularity, you can get them in silver, gold and platinum. They will cost you anywhere from $5 to $40. A sunburst decoration like Janet’s is selling for $69 in New York.

Where Can I Buy One?

Your local body-piercing shops and tattoo parlors usually sell jewelry for pierced nipples for men and women. Likewise, they can also be purchased on the Internet on tattoo and piercing sites and in online marketplaces, such as eBay by searching by the words “piercing” or “body jewelry.”

Which Celebs are Rockin’ Em?

Other celebrities with nipple piercings: Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Lenny Kravitz, and Tommy Lee.

Is Piercing For You?

There are many different areas of the body that can be pierced, some safer than others. Nipple piercings are of the more sensual body piercings for both men and women. Keep in mind that there are also different pain levels and healing difficulties with each decoration. Unlike other forms of body art like tattoos, which are more permanent, the commitment with piercings isn’t as great and they aren’t as costly.

Always use a clean, reputable piercing professional, preferably on recommendation. Knowing these factors can help you to make the right decision when thinking of getting a body piercing.

I really do not see a problem with the artical.

Could not be any worse than the sex quizes in magaizes all young kids read.

I listen to rap sometimes. Good beat and sometimes some good driving music. I think I am turning out rather well.

Wankel

I listen to a lot of hip hop and have most of my life. But it has never been a part of my moral fabric. It has always been strictyl entertainment. Oh well. I guess it's a losing battle.

that stinkin rap music....bringing down the country...

funny how more kids in Iowa and Kansas listen to it as compared to the big city suburbs...

I hope I am never so old and dumb that I blame music for the problems of the countrys youth.

:(

If you haven't seen the independent film "Whiteboyz", do yourself a favor and rent it. I saw it on IFC last month and it is freakin' hilarious, though it's not really an outright comedy. It's about a trio of wannabe rappers (white, of course) in Davenport, Iowa, one of whom wants to move to Chicago and live in the projects. Toward the end of the movie, they end up in Cabrini-Green on a drug deal. Great stuff.

haha. that's hilarious. i'll vouche for that. definitely rent WHITEBOYZ. it's beautifully frustrating.

actually it hit really close to home. growing up in smalltown kentucky, we had so many gangstas. it was hilarious. they even nicknamed themselves and had them airbrushed on clothes and license plates. i only remember three of them. KEEBLER "G". SHORTY (b/c he wasn't tall). then there was J-ROC (because he was a douche) it was all really funny to watch.

although i made fun of them publicly, they never touched me. there were a lot of threats, but no physical contact. pu$$ies.

probably for the best. i would've gotten my a$$ kicked anyway.

:D

White Boyz wasn't Davenport was it? I know they filmed it in Iowa City when I was there. The drug deal in the bathroom is in The Fieldhouse bar.

Like that piece of crap of nickleback's that gets aired 100 times a day is any better than rap?
