This is just in reply to the crowd on this board who like to say "It's all about networking and who you know as to getting hired." I don't dispute that it can help having a buddy walk in your resume, but its bull*&^t when that is the only way to get the call. I'm now living proof that you don't have to be dating the chief pilots daughter or nephew of some hot shot. I now have a great job flying a heavy out of the west coast with a good company where I did not even know a soul when I applied. My last job was flying regional jets. All I did was keep applying and keep logging quality time and finally they called me and hired me. No phone calls to buddies, favors, or deals. So for all of you who don't know anybody at the place you want to work just keep applying.

Congrats on the job!!

Heavy? Is this corporate or airline?

It's not who you know, it's what you know about who you know, and that they know you know it about them. ;)

If you think you are at your last job fine, you will learn, otherwise I wouldn't stop networking, I don't care who hired you, it makes a difference, good luck.

There are always exceptions to the rule. Sometimes it's being in the right place at the right time. Congrats!

I didn't think that there was much of "who you know" within the airline industry. Obviously getting your stuff walked in helps but I thought that airline stuff was more based on meeting minimums and less on who you know. Unless it's FedEx or UPS.

I guess there is more of the who you know stuff in the 121 world than I thought. Congrats on the job!
