Pull up this chart from AA and see if you can guess when the shooting started.

Israel has a right to defend itself, yes...however, didn't 500,000 Lebanese citizens hold demonstrations about a year ago to get Syria out of meddling in their country? The people of Lebanon don't like Syria...probably hate Hezbollah but can't do anything about it...meanwhile, they are getting bombs rained on their civilian infrastructure for stuff they didn't do.

Anyone have a way out of this mess ? I sure don't.

I wonder how long it will be before pax bookings drop because who wants to climb on an airplane with the Middle East shooting match that's going on ?

Remember that Syria was for all intents and purposes granted Lebanon as reward for their "participation" in Gulf War I. They still basically control it. Plus, the Lebanese army refuses to try to oust Hizbullah from the South. Any civilian death is unfortunate but when the enemy hides itself amongst them it's inevitable.

This situation will not come to an end until there is a clear winner. No truce will ever be reached that is actually followed. Until Syria, Iran, etc go to all out war with Isreal and win or until Isreal drops nukes the situation will not resolve. The terror will continue. It's unfortunate

5 MEA planes last night made it out of Beriut off the taxiway

Unfortunately, the "average Lebanese" is in the press, saying how "this sacrifice is worth it" and how happy they are about the attack on Israel and the kidnapping of the Israeli soldiers.

Ignorant cork smokers. They have wasted a whole generation over there, fighting a war against Israel that they will never win. The Israelis need to take out the Iranian nuke facilities and that Syrian ass-clown, Assad. He's had enough warnings . . . . three strikes and you're out. . . . . Bada- Boom!

Sadly I think you're right. It would cool things down for a while, but the hatred would still be there and it would only fester and grow and in 10 years we'd have the same problems. Sigh.

Unfortunately, if a Lebanese/Palestinian/Syrian/Iraninan leader stood up, renounced all violence and told Hamas & Hezbollah to lay down their weapons, he would be killed the next day. Can't blame the average Palestinian for voting for Hamas. That organization is the only one who has provided any sort of health care and educational system to the Palestinians, which is great...but there still is that pesky habit of blowning up busses full of Israeli children. I don't get it.

You don't get it because you have no clearly defined sense of what is right and wrong. You fail to see the manipulative behavior of Hamas or Hezbollah, choosing instead to focus on the the "good" things they do and attempt to rationalize their terrorist behavior. You may call blowing up busses full of children a "pesky habit" but I prefer to call it evil. You need a moral compass, bro. Seeing the world in shades of grey might make you feel better, but it doesn't excuse blatant acts of murder against innocents. And, once again, take your threads to the non-aviation board. This is the second time this week you've posted innappropriate threads on the majors board. Though I keep answering them, which makes me just as stupid....

Iran military advisors helped the Hiz send the drone into the IDF ship off Lebanon. According to Israeli military 100 Iranian "advisors" in Lebanon. Somebody is going to be smoking soon.

Coordinated?

Doesn't it seem that the recent actions of Hamas and Hezbollah are coordinated? Meant to engage Israel on 2 fronts....
I wonder when the stupid arabs are going to learn that if they mess with Israel, they are going to get their a## handed to them 10 times over. If they would just leave Israel alone, they could have peace and some level of prosperity.

Arab leaders need the strife of the Israel / Palestine conflict to get their populations to hate Israel and ignore the poverty and dictatorships in thier own land. Its all smoke and mirrors.

Its been 30 years since Israel mopped up the whole lot of them, maybe they forgot.

If Nukes do start going off, we are going to need to shut our borders down, for there will be a line of Hajis at the border trying to set of a suitcase bomb over here.

Well, it's more than that. They are also backed by Syria and Iran, so what you are really seeing is Syria and Iran acting against Israel through subsidiaries.

We have been fighting the same thing in Iraq, just no one is saying it.

The Israeils have sent a few messages to Syria's Assad via some F-16 aircraft giving his palace a supersonic buzz-job twice now . . . I say "3 strikes and you're out".

After that, those "Bunker Buster" bombs we sold to Israel will find their final destination, the Iranian nuclear works.:bomb:

The question is what will happen after that.

I wonder when the stupid arabs are going to learn that if they mess with Israel, they are going to get their a## handed to them 10 times over. If they would just leave Israel alone, they could have peace and some level of prosperity.

The problem is that they need Israel as a scapegoat, because otherwise they would simply be fighting each other . . . . and the poor would care more about why their leaders have wealth, while they live in squalor.:puke:

Dude, chill out and stop preaching about morals...my moral compass is just fine. Did you get that term from Karl Rove and the Fox news chanel ?

Of course blowing up buses full of Israeli children is morally reprehensible and is in no way justified just because Hamas pays for a few clinics and sets up a couple or schools. Your little pea-brain probably needs to boil things down into neatly packed compartments of right vs wrong, good vs evil, but it doesn't allow any room for the complexities of the issues.

Good read Robert Baer's book "See No Evil" to see what we are facing. Bet you didn't know that a sizable chunk of the Lebanese population is Christian. Would you throw them in with the Muslim terrorists ? Consider yourself enlightened.
